Apparently you have never really heard Jeff's solo efforts.
Here's a tip...
The second you are finished reading this, go to iTunes and download
"LOST IN TRANSLATION" for $7.99, throw on some headphones, dim the lights, lie back
and take a good listen or 5!

Then imagine that sound and energy infused with Friga's melodies, writing abilities and The Whale,
add a splash of Neal's over-the-top and brilliant fretwork and then get back to me...

If you can't see AND hear MAJOR potential then you are missing out.

Actually, I was present when the band discussed this. It seems the restroom break was happening during Who's Crying Now, so they added I'll be Alright Without you - which has gone down a storm.

They have since replaced Keep On Running with Message Of Love also.

Some newer songs will be played during the UK tour coming up.

I get the feeling that Jeff may not be that interested in doing the Augeri era material...I don't know...I could be wrong....just a hunch.

Me, too. And I am sure JSS is glad Keep On Runnin' was dropped. Seems like a tough song to sing live, much tougher than MOL.

Yes, Journey will probably kick Journey fans asses.

But kick ass in the general music world? I don't see it happening. No matter how good it is.

Sad...but true.

I have to agree its going to be difficult unless they do align with some new artist and then you have to ask the question "could they have done it on their own"?--they have a new singer but still an unknown in the states(despite his underground status-which isnt going to be the average journey fan) They are going to need a ton of publicity, and i would believe that if they got just that , there could be a good chance that tapegate would show up again and taint them regardless of the new singer. With each singer getting further from the original sound of Perry it will be harder to be the JOURNEY that the casual fan wants to listen to i believe they could make the fanatics happy but the fans are going to be a whole different ballgame.Radio stations dont want to play grandpa rock, they cater to teenagers and they often laugh at 40 yr olds trying to get there childhood favorite bands back on the radio--its a nice thought but the reality is what it is i have a few buddys in the radio biz and ive had this conversation a couple times with them and the general concensus, they say is too old ,outdated, not gonna happen--and some get mad and say --hey they had their time--its time for others to come on through--sort of a pass the torch feel.

makes sense, Logjam and it is sad that the media moguls feel that way. But what if the band's management became a publicity and marketing monster much the same as Bon Jovi and Aerosmith's management does everytime their clients do something new? We all know radio, espicially the FM giants, will play 'to the highest bidder'. Thankfully Journey also has another, fast growing avenue to pursue as well... Satellite Radio.

Huge difference between Bon jovi ,Aerosmith-----and Journey--they have there original singers and dont have a potential scandal brewing, if they (Journey)were to gain some press the scandal could work against them. If they were to have PR try to bring them out into the open again--only took one angry fan to take on the tapegate issue with Augeri ,would probably only need one fan to take on the rest of the band to face up to being just as guilty in the tapegate issue--that could turn into a nightmare.

I don't think it'll even come down to whether JSS is interested or not, the fact is Journey themselves won't be interested in it, as they haven't been interested in playing Arrival, Red 13, or Generations material beyond the tours in support (if that term even applies)of those albums, with a couple of exceptions. Hopefully that will change with future tours and albums.
