I will post my LONG apology thread to BT and my united speech later.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

Guess so.......

It's a JOKE you oversensitive DUMBASSES.

If you are offended - get on a fucking treadmill. I could care less if someone weighs 400 lbs if they are happy. I can't stand political correctness and people who are worried about a post on the net. I will bet anything I live my life better than anyone here who is so "offended".

Okay, I wasn't going to chime in on this one, but I feel I MUST enlighten some of you on the fat issue!!!!

I am a hefty gal, as anyone who attended Ed's party can attest too or who has seen my pics. BUT what people don't realize is that all obese people aren't fat because of choice or because they eat too much!!!

I have dealt with weight issues all of my life and have tried every diet, pill, exercise, program known to man to get the weight off. I also have hypothyroidism and have been on large does of thyroid medicine for most of my life. In July 2001 I decided I had enough and made the decision to have gastric bypass surgery. I had 2/3rds of my stomach removed as well as a large portion of my small intestine. I now live on prescribed compounded vitamins, (13 a day), weekly vitamin B-12 and B 100 shots, (which I give myself), nasty protein shakes, coffee, and Red Bull! It is now impossible for me to over eat, and yes I am still fat after losing 167 pounds and almost dying from complications, after my surgery!!! It took me six months to recover from the surgery and I spent a total of 45 days in the hospital, most in ICU!! I have been through HELL and back!!! Literally! I have had seven operations within the past 5 years to correct what I have done to my body! I still have at least 4 more surgeries to go through to remove massive amounts of excess skin and scar revision. Not to mention the THOUSANDS of dollars it has cost.

Do you really think that anybody would put themselves through all this if loosing weight was as simple as putting down the fork?!!! Those of you who continue to make fun of fat people really need to look at the big picture, (pun intended) before you attack people that aren't thin. I take most of these posts with a grain of salt and find them pretty damn funny, but a line has to be drawn somewhere and I am sorry to burst your bubble, but not everyone is perfect!!!

Okay, I am now down off my soapbox, please continue with the attacks!!

Apologies

Postby Mandi » Tue Nov 21, 2006 3:17 pm

It seems very noble of you, Dean, to want to mend fences and bring some unity to the Journey fan base. If anyone can accomplish this, it would be you. You have become somewhat of a legend both here and at BT. Even if your apology is received with a lukewarm response, you are still the bigger person for offering it.

It would be great if we could all get back to discussing the music of Journey, but for some fans, discussing Journey music will always include a mention of Steve Augeri. Even though many here would prefer he just fade into the woodwork, he is a part of Journey's history and discussing him always seems to bring out the worst of some fans. Just like Mr. Perry will always be adored by his die-hard fans, Mr. Augeri has that distinction also. Like it or not, many of us still remain fans of his. That doesn't mean that we don't appreciate or respect JSS or SP. Believe it or not, it is possible to have some admiration and enthusiasm for ALL of Journey's lead singers, both past and present. Agreeing to disagree is the first step.

When this is accepted by the handful of posters here who continue to bash and lash out at the SA era, and the fans who remain faithful to him, then true unity of the fan base may become a reality. I come here to read the opinions of people who have obvious knowledge of all things Journey, and music in general. Some debates and opinions, are both informative and very entertaining. This forum is nothing if it isn't unique! It would be nice if the "large and naked" photos were kept to one thread, however. Just a thought. :?

Anyway, good for you Dean!! I can't wait to read the full post. I just knew that behind that great smile there really is a good heart, the heart of the "ultra-fan".

Regards
Mandi

I don't mean to start an argument and I sympathize with your difficulties but it's not impossible to overeat w/ GB surgery. Ever hear of Roseane Barr, Carnie Wilson. They had surgery too and ate right through it. I love watching Celebrity Fit Club, esp. Carnie arguing with the weight loss panel how her surgery was necessary and diet and excercise doesn't help everyone (after coming to them for help after continuing to eat more than she was supposed to after her surgery)

I know this wasn't directed at me as I don't make fun of fat people. But again I have to somewhat dissagree about the fork thing. The 2 shows that I have to watch. I tape them every week cuz I love them are "24" and "The Biggest Loser". The Biggest Loser is great, you have a bunch of obese people (this year 50 people from each state) and give them a $250,000 incentive to get into shape. They all have the same goal, eat right and work out alot!!! I don't know if anyone else here watches it but the transformations are AMAZING!!! The chicks get hot right before your eyes, and the dudes get all buff and ripped. It is a very inspirational show. Love it!

W/all due respect Red, those are people who are just obese from overeating. But there are people who have medical conditions that cause them to be overweight. Hypothyroidism is a classic for that & something I know a lot about myself as I suffer from it. It wasn't until I fought a long battle w/doctors that I could get on the right meds & right dosage & during that time I had gained weight which didn't make me happy as I'd been skinny my whole life. While I felt lousy w/the accompanying muscle cramps, I wasn't able to work out. I ate very little & still gained weight. It took a lot of hard work after I got on the right meds to get back to a weight I was happy w/ (now, thanks to another illness, I could use a few pounds...)
Many docs are behind the times in treating hypothyroidism. I also have a friend who is overweight & in her case, it's from having a bad back for which she had surgery. She would dearly love to work out but her back condition is preventing her from doing so.

I think what Sunshine is saying is don't wash everyone w/the same brush. Sometimes it's not just overeating & lack of exercising that cause a person to be overweight.

'24' is the ONLY show that I make a point of watching every week.....great show. A friend lent me the 'Lost' dvds and think I just might have to add that one too. Haven't seen the biggest loser yet.....but didn't I read somewhere that the guy that won and the girl that won before, ended up getting married?

It's true that some people can out eat their surgery! But it isn't always the case! I had a very radical procedure done, not like most GB's. You have NO idea what discipline it takes to remember to take your vitamins everyday. Sometimes I forget to eat at all! I have to remind myself to get all my protein in. Thanksgiving is NOT one of my favorite holidays, as you can imagine. If only I could enjoy a bite or two. I only eat to stay alive now. No enjoyment in that whatsoever!

My point is, not everything is as it seems. That's all I was trying to say!
