Thanksgiving is a moment to remember

How little we can do to move the stars.

All we are and have we must surrender,

Nor is Earth less inscrutable than Mars.

Knowing this, we know the need for friends

Sharing both our pleasures and our pain,

Giving, though it may not serve their ends,

In joy the love that will our love sustain.

Very much like water in a lake,

In sum we serve as mirrors to the sky.

No one alone can heaven's picture take.

Given friends, we know the reason why.

Through cooking for today and relaxing with a little potent refreshment as we speak(or type :?). I'll probably eat too much to be able to drink anything tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the great people on this board and even to some that aren't always so great. 8)

I'm trying to remember what a Thanksgiving OR Christmas is like WITH Turkey being served. There haven't been many unless I was the one hosting family. Sadly not many people show up for our family get togethers until after they've gone to everyone elses home first, leaving us with TONS of uneaten food. When we are invited to other people's homes, I'm often asked to help in the kitchen, with my cooking background meaning not much socializing time, so that's real old too.

This year sticking with tradtion of NO turkey, my brother is having us over for frickin' Filet Mingons. FILET'S on Thanksgiving? WTF?

There will only be the two of us.......... but I go out and get a genuine turkey breast with wishbone ( not any of that turkey roll crap for me !), since there will be only two of us......... going to do mashed potatoes, peas...... cranberry sauce of course....... and for dessert........... Pumpkin Pie Gems........... Yum ! I am getting hungry already !

What's messed up, is that local grocery stores sell decent sized cooked turkey's and the fixin's for around $20. All you have to do is order it a week ahead of time, and pick it up the night before Thanksgiving. No work involved. The last time I made turkey not one of the invited guests ate any, or any food for that matter, turned me off of the whole family get together thing for Thanksgiving at my house. People don't appreciate the trouble you go to to cook a nice family meal anymore and that's a shame.

MMMM lasagna.
