OT- Chris Daughtry's CD is out

Postby ohsherrie » Thu Nov 23, 2006 12:50 am

He was on GMA yesterday and Regis and Kelly today. He sounds good, not sure I'm crazy about the song he sang though.

I haven't got it yet but I'd like to hear the whole CD. He's a great singer and his band sounds good.

Sorry...Daughtry is a dime-a-dozen singer. Certainly good, but not worthy of all the fawning. You can easily find a guy like him plying his trade in a bar in virtually any U.S. city with a population over 25,000.

He had a few nice performances on AI, but overall, he's a decidedly ordinary talent at best.

here, here or is it hear, hear in this situation? He's pretty much the same as many "adult alternative/rockin' singers today. nothing different.

I love the fact that the ad's on Tv are touting that he has a NEW band. I guess once he got fame, his old bandmates weren't worthy of his time? Next, he'll dump his wife and her sons. it's only a matter of time.

Now tell us how u really feel about him.

I like his voice. To me, it's a LOT different than most other singers I've heard on the radio who do all sound the same.

I think Chris has a very strong melodic voice. He puts passion into his vocals and is at least as good as the guy who sings for Nickelback. (I like Nickelback by the way)

I don't know if Taylor Hicks has an album yet NIG, but I never really thought he should have won anyway. He's fun and a good singer, but he just never clicked with me.

I like that he won just b/c he didn't fit the "pretty" mold so he paves the way for other non-picture-perfect vocalists. I would have hated if that Katherine chick won. So phoney & she wasn't that good. But I thought Chris should have made it the whole way thru.

I got one of Hicks' pre-AI albums from a friend & it does have a few good moments. Some catchy songs. But I heard boots of him live & well, his voice doesn't hold up that well. I couldn't believe all the old women who thought he was hot tho. OMG. Yeah him & Jay Leno. I'm dying to do em both, NOT.

I think Chris is better than the Nickelback guy. They're ok, but kinda boring to me. I really hope Chris goes far.

AI

Postby journeywoman » Thu Nov 23, 2006 9:40 am

I have never watched AI till this past season. I could not believe the so-called talent that came down to the final 4.In my opinion none of the finalists should have been there. Let alone Talyor hicks?I think all of this is a done deal from the beginning to the end.And all that hype build up between the judges...Geez what a put on.I will never waste my time watching this show unless they have a guest artist and everyone knows who I'm talking about, that shows up to give these so-called performers tips!

Like Taylor or hate him, he's different, and that's what people wanted. I called him as the winner from the moment I heard him audition. He floored me, Chris had a great voice I thought at the beginning, but towards the end, he was too much for me to take. Never changed "HIS" so called style, lied and got caught a few times saying the arrangements were his, when in fact they were of versions of songs that had been done by other "alternative" bands previously, etc. The fans got tired of that stuff, also, THAT look. Trying to be like that Constantine guy, with that smarmy look that was supposed to make women drool, and I'm sure it did with some.

Taylor may not be HOT, may not be a great dancer, but he's literally got SOUL. And many people got that about him.

I don't hate Chris, I just don't think he was all that. It's my opinion and it won't change.

Ur certainly entitled to ur opinion. I like some of Taylor Hicks' stuff. But his new single that is coming out & the album ???? Where's his soul? Where's the Sam Cooke stuff he did? It's gone. It's all pop now. He sold out big time.

What I liked most about Chris is that he would not change his style. He stuck to his guns. Bald guys don't do it for me usually. But Chris has a ton of sex appeal. I think the critics called him "sex on a stick". Have u heard him live? He totally brings it. Have u heard Taylor live? It's not so pretty. From what I've heard, Chris stole the AI tour this summer. His new album is awesome & very much true to his style.

Oh & as for ur comment that he dumped his band, Absent Element, that is not true. In fact, he made special arrangements so that they could audition for his new band, Daughtry. 1 of them didn't want to. 2 of them auditioned but did not make it. That wasn't Chris' fault. Remember he is owned by Idol for 1 yr & had to do what they said. He couldn't make his own choices. There's no hard feelings between him & Absent Element either. They support him 100%.

NO. It's Chris Daughtry, not Daugherty, and he is a rock vocalist.

Thanks, was just going to go seek out a soundbyte.

I stand corrected, definitely rock. A bit modern, but I can deal with it. Sounds alright.

It's lower range stuff, I can probably sing it. (I actually am decent if it's lower - not a slap at him)

Appreciate you all setting me straight on this.
