But no, Augeri hasn't done it, and nor will he, from what I am thinking, and that is another reason I have lost respect for Augeri. Augeri claims that the fans mean so much to him, but I don't think so. Augeri dropped the ball in more ways than one in my opinion. :D

I respect your opinion, however my intentions for posting here and your intentions for posting at BT are quite different.

You made no bones about your disrespect for Steve Augeri and a perceived slight by him for not addressing his fans, however I simply reposted a Classic MR.com Interview with the intent of showing Steve in a more human light and hopefully getting some to at least respect him on that level.

I'm glad you asked...It's you personally! I'm not sure I could make my feelings about you any more clear than I did on BT for many years! I've told you where to go and how to get there. I know you seem to get some sort of a rush out of stirring the pot and then go out of your way to accuse many others of doing that same thing. Also, you know better than anyone else that the three people who seemingly agreed with your thread are three BT regulars, so I'm not sure why this is any great surprise!

For the record, Fred is dead wrong (in spite of his college degree comments) that your thread was met with resistance because others "didn't agree" with what you posted. With all of Fred's intellect, he should have been astute enough to understand that there wasn't really much to not "agree" with. You simply posted an interview with Augeri talking to Drew. The reality is that most people know you and your act, so that's why it was meant with some resistance. Also, for what it's worth, I have no desire to read interviews with Neal, Jon, or any other member of Journey from 5 years ago...5 years was a lifetime ago and really has NOTHING at all to do with what is going on in Journey today. Go post that interview in "Precious Time", Rich. You know...the forum devoted to past members of Journey, where it belongs!

Rich knew exactly what he was starting. Same old passive/aggressive bullshit. He knows Augeri is a lightning rod here, yet posts 5 year old interviews during Journey's transition period with their new lead singer. He's like the guy that goes to an NAACP meeting with a David Duke T-shirt on and wonders why everyone there hates him. You're a transparent asshole...that's why. Exercise some common sense and quit hiding behind the "well it DOES relate to Journey" card. It's getting old. As for Fred, at least I respect him. And believe me, we've gone at it MANY times. While I view him as a pain in the ass at times, he at least exhibits balls and stands up for himself. Rich plays the "victim" as someone alluded to earlier.

Not playing the victim at all. Just don't understand the out and out hatred towards Steve Augeri and to myself.

Probably has something to do with the fact that the two of you advertise(d) yourselves as one thing, yet reality seems to be telling us something quite the contrary.

This is a direct response to what I have been saying over at BT, so don't give me that "I simply wanted to show Augeri in a more human light" bullcrap. I can see thru that in a minute.

Augeri is human, but he has fucked up in more ways than one these past months. To try to make him look better to people, to make him look human, is a feeble attempt to redeem Augeri, and for the most part, it will not succeed. Simply put, no matter how you try to cast him, Augeri will not get back the respect of some people. :D

I see what you are doing, and that is trying to cast Augeri in a more favorable light as a human being, so hopefully, Augeri will get the respect back that you think he deserves. But it isn't working, Rich. Sorry.

I have been around more sincere people than I can count. So throw that argument out the window. I can also see thru people who try to bullshit as well. :D

In spite of how you portray things Rich, I don't think this website is full of people who have "hatred" toward Augeri. I can tell you that for me personally, I never had any issue with Augeri, until he started using recordings during a concert that was supposed to be live. In fact, I thought Augeri sounded pretty good on both "Arrival" and the 2001 DVD. I think you confuse the fact that most Journey fans simply don't think Augeri had the vocal abilities of Perry as "hatred". That's simply stating our opinion, and doesn't mean we hate the guy. As I've said many times...there is no crime in not being able to sing like Perry did. I've yet to hear one single person who can pull it off, and I'm okay with that.

As far as the "hatred" toward you...I don't "hate" you or anyone else, Rich. It's a wasted emotion, that isn't worth feeling. I never said I hated you...I said you are a complete ass who goes out of his way on both sites to stir the pot, and then admonish anyone who doesn't agree with you on what the rules are and how you're going to report them to the Journey Police! I stand by those statements, and anyone who has read many of your comments for any length of time probably understands where I'm coming from. I'm sure you will always have a few supporters on BT who sneak over here to tell us all about how sincere and genuine your intentions are, but, most of us know better!

Rich, you need glasses if you are going to keep up this "mission" of casting Augeri in a more human light. It isn't going to work.

Listen up, and maybe you will get educated. I have more experience in the way the world works, and of how human beings work, than you will ever know in your short lifetime ( I am quite older than you in age and possibly wisdom). I can smell bullshit a mile away, and this whole "Show Augeri how human he is" stinks to high heaven. Go change your pants. :D

Ya lose your voice...STEP DOWN. Never resort to tapes and screw your fans over. Simple as that.
It wasn't the just the beginning of this tour. Guide vocals for '04, Tape after the first week of '05, tape in the UK, couldn't sing in the US and that was painfully obvious. Enter JSS.[/quote]

Oh Deb, thank you for bringing that up! I remember the days of the first Precious Times forum when virtually every positive Perry thread would be hijacked by Rich's attempts to assure that Augeri was properly recognized in the thread. Then others would chime in with him, emotions would escalate and a fight would ensue that ultimately got many Perry fans, including myself, banned from the board. He's an antagonist, pure and simple.

The reason I reposted this interview was because I think it is a tremendous and well done interview that goes in depth into the man that lead Journey for the past 8 years. No matter what did or did not happen this past year, Steve is a good man and a very capable vocalist and musician. He is not Steve Perry and never claimed to be. Simply sounds close enough to get the job done.

No matter where his road leads in the future, he deserves our respect. Just as does Steve Perry and just as does Jeff.

You fail to see that respect is EARNED and not something you can give blindly. They fuck up...they lose respect. And you KNEW that bringing this up would start up the debate again so don't pull that shit.

I'll leave it to those that can appreciate my true intention then. For those of you that can't see the point I'm trying to make, all due respect to you.

You know how people are on this site.

I believe there are people here that appreciate the true intent of this thread.

Which is still not clear.

Perhaps it would be easier to get the point of the post, if some of us could look at the interview and the man's words on face value. No matter what you believe happened this past Summer, Steve Augeri was a part of the experience, Live and in the Studio, for the past 8 years.

If we simply agree as a foregone conclusion that there were tapes used at the beginning of this Tour, we have to come to the conclusion that the ultimate loss of vocals was due to the rigors of singing Journey songs for much of the past 7-8 years.

EXACTLY! Do not resort to tapes etc....... Like Schon and the rest of the band had no idea! They are all partners in crime, they all combined to ''Screw their fans over''......just call it a day, and stop flogging a dead horse...they are all no doubt financially secure....so why go on. Seems to me that Augerri is the scapegoat.

I'm posting this as a reminder to us all of why Steve was the man chosen to lead the band into the 21st Century and why, no matter what happens and who winds up leading Journey into the future, this man deserves much more respect than he's been getting.

I haven't even read thru the thread yet, but wanted to respond right off the top to this. Steve was handed possibly the hardest job in music and against what many predicted, helped get Journey into a new phase of their career - touring without Mr. Perry.
He also went on to be part of what is a classic Journey album - Arrival. So for that he deserves thanks and respect. I'm sure the negativity here will subside once a statement is officially released and fans can finally move on from this very long and complex year.

I'm mostly quiet these days, but any sign of said statement appearing Drew?

And yeah I do think it'll calm down once the whole thing is official. Hope it happens before your brain becomes scrambled egg

Ok, now having read the thread - a couple of things:

- People are free to dicuss Seve and what they liked about him, what he brought to the band etc...I don't see aything wrong with that and I don't expect that anyone would want to erase the last 8 years.

- Yes, do read the forum on the weekends (most of the time), but quickly and I don't post unless I have to.

Thank you, Andrew. You are the voice of reason once again.

I am looking forward to reading the upcoming interviews very much, even though I know that they contain the key that will lock the door on an era of Journey that I have loved and appreciated very much.

Still, looking towards the future with JSS in the lead is very exciting. Looking back, however, holds many great memories as well as some regrets. Its all part of life, its all part of the Journey.

Hope the word comes soon!!

Very well put, Andrew. I can't think of too many singers who could've done the job who would've WANTED it.

Not sure anyone can really argue that point. I said from the beginning that Augeri was stepping into an absolute IMPOSSIBLE position. I mean...would you want to replace Perry and sing mostly songs that he wrote or co-wrote and then made famous with his one of a kind voice? I certainly wouldn't have signed on for that gig, for all the money under the sun! That said, I trust Augeri is a bright guy and knew what he was walking into. I'm guessing he was well aware of who Journey was and the legacy of Journey and Perry, before agreeing to step in.

I think Jeff is also stepping into an impossible situation. Even though many will say he's replacing Augeri and not Perry, he is still ultimately replacing Perry and singing Perry's music. I think a huge thing in Jeff's favor is he looks VERY different than Perry and in my opinion, really sounds nothing at all like Perry, from what I can tell. Then again, the more I listened to Augeri, the less I thought he sounded anything like Perry, either. Let's just hope they at least get this announcement out, as the waiting seems kind of crazy, especially considering they are about to release the worst-kept secret, EVER!

I might also add that Steve A's career was given a huge boost by his joiniong Journey. No way he would have earned the same money had he been with anyone else or a solo artist.
