Those bands went out of way to copy you. I bet said bands would be honored to have their songs redone by their idols. And if said covers become hits, it's gravy for everyone.
Covering a band that is imitating you. And people are wondering why the music business is in such a sad sad state... I don't mind a cover version but write your own songs! Use covers as b-sides or other fillers!

Hello there!

it's a rainy Saturday night and I'm all on my own, drinkin' a glass of mineral water and I won't back down

....'til you give me a beer.

Lyrics for a new song?

Seriously, I'm going out tonight to see a band called "Railway". I'm asked to do a guest performance with them but don't know what song/songs it'll be. I hardly know the guys so I'm a bit nervous.

Mineral wishes,

Thomas

Now there a blast from the past Thomas, cause there was a band in the 80s called Railway. Ithink they release a couple albums, pre CD, on the NOISE label.

Not really sure whether to call them an improvement, but some covers I really like are When A Blind Man Cries sung by Richie Sambora on Stuart Smith's record, and Jeff Healy did a beautiful version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Aha! I was already wondering which song you were quoting and then I thought, well, 'I won't back down' is that Tom Petty song, but did the lines before it really go like that???

Sounds like you're going to have a fun night. What song(s) did you play with the band?

It's a rainy Saturday night over here as well. We've been busy building several cupboards, and I'm going to to try and keep our house looking a bit more tidy now. (oh, I'm probably gonna regret saying that!) Usually I drop everything next to me and leave it there, now I will actually have a place to store everything...

You're right, I think I might have them in my collection. However, this Railway is a pure blues band.

I got to play "Walking By Myself", the old classic!

How's it going with the cupboards?

Your guest performance went alright then, I gather. 8)

The cupboards are all finished! Now I only need to buy a new ceiling light... I was manoeuvring with one of the doors and shattered the glass of the light.

Also, check out the cover of Treat's "Muscle In Motion." that was redone by Contagious. If it were listed as a bonus track for a Europe album, you wouldn't know it was done by another band.

This one was written by Diane Warren, although there are several other "Here In My Heart"s as well.

And yes, you can give me a piece of the cake...

I doubt that many people around here will know "The Frogger" ("een vers kopje theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!")

Watching the Kissology DVD! ... and recovering from yesterday, or today; depends how you look at it, it got rather late that I saw my bed.

Next up is The Scorpions - Savage Crazy World; live songs and videos. I hope the video with the Scorpions in the pods is on it (very Spinal Tap ), can't remember in what song they did that... possibly Rock You Like A Hurricane? :?

I think they were in some kind of big cage for 'Rock you like a hurricane'......

That's what I remembered of that video as well, but the pod bit turned out to be in it also!

Most of the videos on the DVD were quite alike really; lots of women everywhere and Matthias Jabs looking all dreamy.

And Rudolf!

Oh, I'm getting so tired of the phone menus every company uses these days. It took me ten minutes to find a way through the customer 'service' menu of the phone company to a human. And then the guy on the phone wanted to sell all kinds of 'services' to me, despite that I was calling because of a problem that I wanted looked into. So after insisting I am not interested in any offers he gives me a toll free number to call to get my problem fixed. Now that's a number they could have mentioned a little earlier in their menu I'd think!!!

Sorry about the rant, it's just that I feel used when they try to keep me on the line as long as possible, to make a quick extra buck. I'd rather pay extra and get real service instead.

A drink anyone? I know I could do with one...

Hey everyone. I hope things are going well. I have to say, if there's been any year that tests one's ability to adapt to change, then there's been no year like 2006. It's hard to explain. So much has changed so fast.

But the latest thing has been a break-up between my bro and his gf. It turned out she really was a so-and-so after all. He doesn't feel bad about the breakup at all. Since then, he's broken out of his shell and has become really ambitious to completing everything he hadn't finished, including our band project. It could very well be done before the year is over.

I posted my cats in the photos thread. I couldn't take not having a pet anymore, so something had to be done.

I could use a drink. Do we have booze that is straight alcohol and nothing else?
