Funniest moment at a Journey show

Postby ArnelRox » Sat Nov 25, 2006 7:45 am

I figure we could all use some humor after the last few days. So, what was ur funniest moment at a Journey show?

Mine will surprise people. It was actually at a show w/Augeri in Boca Raton, FL in Sept 03. I know some have said he wasn't a good frontman but that nite, he was really entertaining. The power went out for a moment & he kept on singing valiantly. He then went to the side of the stage & asked for something. A few minutes later, someone handed him 2 teeny little lightbulbs which he held up laughing. He bent down, singing all the time, & handed them to 2 girls that were standing beside me at the front of the stage. It was really funny & really cute. I never liked his voice much (mostly b/c I'm such a Perryloon) but I thought he put on a great show that nite & I will always remember his humor & professionalism at that moment. Sadly, when I next saw him in 04, it was obvious he wasn't having as much fun & he was struggling vocally. But I won't forget that nite. It was great. Zino has that show on disc. Maybe he could tell us which song it was?

It was at this years Baltimore show. We were in the second row in front of Ross and he came over to wave at my daughter Valory who I was holding up so she could see. He's waving at her, she is picking her nose! Ross makes on of he funny faces, mimes picking his nose and acts like he has snot on the end of his finger and is looking for a place to wipe it off. The entire front row turns around to look why, and there is my daughter with her finger, with a snot on it, which she then proceded to wipe on my shirt following Ross's "suggestion", much to everyones delight and their laughter. Even Jon Cain was sniggering up behind the piano.
I was so mortified I had to sit down.

Hey...I was at that show...Augeri was quite entertaining ....bouncing all over the stage, climbing on speakers.......he was in good vocal form that night, too...despite how friggin' miserably hot and muggy it was. I was in the 6th row, if I remember straight..on Neal's side. I actually couldn't stand that venue...the seating arrangement sucked...they packed you in like fucking sardines. They actually played 3 songs from Arrival at that show...To Be Alive Again, We Will Meet Again and Higher Place... I think...PLUS Precious Time and Where Were You! Deen sang Mother, Father and one other song...can't remember.

At the Baltimore show recently, when JSS sang a couple lines of AWYWI to my friend, then to me. My friend sang right back to him, but then when he looked at me all I could do was stand there with my hand over my mouth like an idiot. Then my friend yells at me "Deen is laughing at you!", & sure enough he was, lol.

The funniest moment was at the ROR Concert in Hartford, CT.

Steve was......um......well......in VERY "rare form", to put it .....mildly.....

A few songs into the show, he stopped to greet everyone.....and then he talked about how the onstage cameras have become a vital part of the show, because they bring everything "up close and personal".

Having said that, he walked up to one of the cameras, turned around, lifted up his red tails, SHOOK HIS ASS at the camera, and yelled into the mic:

"SO SQUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZE IT, BABAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!"

Neal looked like he was gonna DIE!! LOL

OMG what a great story. LMAO. Damn I would love to see that on video. Priceless.

Perry was such a clown sometimes. Jeff is a clown onstage too. When I saw him on 11/7, he had some water bottle in a kinda spray thing & he was goofing around acting like it was deodorant & laughing w/Deen. Very funny.

I have an audio boot of a show from Philly (I think from the ROR tour). I wish I could remember which song it was, but Perry was talking about "get on your pony and RIDE"! Woo - he was definintely in rare form that night, too!!

They should've renamed it the "RARE FORM" Tour!! LOL

Seriously tho....that was the time when, according to the BTM, everything was kind of falling apart for Steve....so I guess he took all that rage and adrenaline to the stage....and whatever happened, happened.

That was probably a relatively "safe" place to do that. We all need a place like that to vent. LOL!

Just watched the DVD again this morning and I must say Augeri put on a good show that night and was a bit more of a showman than I has seen in the past. Deen stole the show thou with After The Fall. The camera work was abit shaky a tsome points and I believe the lights went out in Chain Reaction. The camera didnt catch what you had said in the post about the light bulbs but my wife and I remember the lights going out.

A funny moment I have heard is on "The Blue Sky Party" which is a boot from Chicago in 1981 I believe on the Escape tour, must have been early in the tour because they didn't do Open Arms. Perry is introducing Lights and you can hear Neal's break a string and Perry adlibs for a moment saying how Neal blew his guitar up. Not real funny but just some human element too a live show
