The Journey Collection - Best and Worst...?

Postby bluejeangirl76 » Thu Nov 30, 2006 3:51 am

This is not meant to incite trouble or make fun of anything... I'm honestly curious to see the varying ideas of everyone's favorite and least favorite albums....

Admittedly I am not very familiar with the pre-Perry stuff...I tied to give them a shot and couldn't get into them...maybe I missed something, and I would welcome recommendations and opinions... but I'm interested to see everyone's favorite and least favorite.

I have a rought time picking a favorite, but I have to go with Evolution or Escape. And Radio.

Least favorite.... Generations.

I'm not sure the pre-Perry stuff (at least for the vast majority of Journey fans) can really even enter into the equation. Journey wasn't even the same band they became, after Perry. Their entire genre of music shifted, completely! As for my least favorite...I thought Generations and Red13 were equally poor. Even the sound quality of Generations was horrendous. It sounded as if it was recorded out of some 16 year old's garage, with poor acoustics!

Frontiers and Escape are right up
on top for me and of what I have
on tapes and cd's, I think
Trial By Fire trails far behind.
It had some great tunes but didn't
have that Journey Juice ya know?
Yet it holds Journey's only Grammy
nomination....oddly it is.

SF Dano of all peeps, too.

Neal's lament was right...too many just "don't get" Red13.

Best: Frontiers
Worst: Look Into The Future

If the pre-Perry albums are not allowed to count, then either Trial By Fire or Red 13 would be my least favorite.

You know Red, I am not sure if it was just because it had only four songs, but after listening to it, I didn't feel like I had just heard Journey. Maybe I "don't get" it, but it just sounded like any other rock band to me. Not that the tunes were terrible, just not what I am looking for or was expecting from Journey. If that makes any sense

To each his own, I guess.

I could hipcheck a building to the ground after listening to The Time. What a tune.... Just the right touch of Bluze built within the framework of heavy Journey rock. Pure Neal.

My favorite changes all the time. It's what I'm listening to most at the moment. I guess I'll pick Frontiers.

I really don't like ROR at all.

Best: I still have to go w/Departure, but I love Infinity, Escape & Frontiers. So close.

Worst: Generations, that's an easy one.

Matthew, I'm shocked. I thought ur favorite would easily be ROR. By picking Arrival as the worst, are u saying u preferred Generations over it? Wow.
