A Journey Museum?

Postby *Laura » Thu Nov 30, 2006 11:58 pm

All the talk about ABBA in Yulog's riddles thread yesterday, reminded me about the fact that ABBA will have their own museum soon.

"An ABBA museum dedicated to the music, clothing and history of the legendary Swedish pop group and its four members will open in Stockholm in 2008.
The interactive museum will feature original outfits and instruments used by the group, handwritten song lyrics, a display of different awards, and "all other things we can think of and find," said Ulf Westman, an event consultant.
The museum will also feature a studio where visitors can record their own ABBA songs, and an interactive experience that "will recreate the feeling of being at Wembley stadium and seeing ABBA live with 50,000 others," Westman said.

Westman said the idea was inspired by the Beatles museum in London, but that it took nearly two years to convince the former ABBA members — Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad — that it was a good idea.
The band members will donate the material for the exhibits, but will otherwise not be involved in the project, which will be funded by company sponsors."

This reminded me of something else that was mentioned on MR a few days ago (by someone named Chocolate) that a Journey Museum in San Francisco would be such a great place to visit!
I agree! It would be a really great thing for the fans as well as for the band!

Museums are not necessarily for retired bands - a place like that could be a good way of advertising, among other things.

Just imagine Journey having their very own Hall Of Fame. 8)
Imagine how many people would have the chance to see what this band is all about!

Question: if you were put in charge to open this Journey Museum, how would it look like?
What kind of things would you put in it,how would you make it interactive with the fans?

Ideas. :)

Interesting question Shania. I need to give it a little more thought, but I think the Scarab needs to be prominent in the decor. I personally think it would be cool if the structure looked like the JRNY radio station, but that might not be a popular idea with some others.

It would be cool if they had a little theatre to sit and watch all their media ie. videos, BTM, stuff like that and also a nice stage outdoors where new musicians could try out their stuff. 8)

Thanks Shania for getting my heart started this morning.

Yeah, we gotta have the trouser snakes and a special exihibit of the most memorable quips and quotes from the MR forum. (at least the ones that aren't X rated)

At one time Perry said he still had his TBF hair in a pony tail. We should definitely get him to contribute that. Of course we must have the tails too. Hey, and how about the jukebox from the AWYWI video?

But I'd add MORE pics of him! Hell, he needs his OWN museum, when you take into account everything he's done so far in his career! I'll open that one! :)

A repica of the "whale"
some of Neal guitars
origianl writing material
MR has great "moose knuckle" pics to add to the wall of "shame"
liked the idea of a place to watch vids
a real-live person talking about how to play the guitar--like at the zoos--
a miniature sound studio
thats all I can think of for now

But, uh....they aren't really all that "elusive". LMAO!
