I don't know any of those people except Tom Cruise and Julio Eglesias but this selection is a lot better than the one with the hat on. Yeah, he is gorgeous.

That Yasmine girl looks like our Nora.

It seems to me
it certainly would have been a nice gesture to send you a coutesy copy
considering you did give the book a spotlight on your site.

It is also a well known fact that regular surface mail going down under
can take forever to get to it;s destination.
I sent a box to my parents & it took over 3 months

So maybe "It's in the mail"...

Speaking of Billy Squier......it was right around the time when Squier had his big hit Stroke Me. When I first met my (ex)hubby he told me Billy Squier was his Uncle ....which I thought was pretty cool at the time  . Well, at a family thing months later I brought it up....OMG....I thought his brother was going to piss himself laughing, I could've killed him.

Well...Tommy Shaw's my uncle and Eddie Van Halen is my creepy, Whacked out grandfather.

I purchased The Steve Perry Book. I have yet to read it. I am planning on doing so around Christmas time.

The book has been lying around since it arrived. I've picked it up a few times but after seeing the shi t rotten cover I have always put it back down. The cover is horrible. It's a completely out of focus picture of Steve Perry. It looks like a 3 year old took the picture & then Stevie Wonder developed it.

Anyway, I do plan on reading it soon.

As for Neals book, It will only come out as a book on tape!!

Neal has dedicated it to Steve. You pick which one including the Steve mentioned in this post.

Boy, for someone who thinks of this place as a slum, you sure do like to read and post here. Hypocrite.

You CAN'T always believe EVERYTHING Mom and Dad told you.

Personally, I believe about 75% of the time you can tell a book by it's cover!!

Then you are indeed fortunate
to have been gifted with such sight.
But for the rest of us
I think it is wise to look a little deeper
as perception can so easily be deceived.
It can be affected by so many things
All may not be what it seems to be
So to judge anything alone on mere appearance
is an injustice that can easily lead to disappointmnet.

I suggest that you head to a big city and ride mass transit for a while. When given a choice, I wonder who you will choose to sit by?? You better use good judgement. You better see what the people around you look like. What they are carrying, their mannerisms etc...

I imagine that you don't hit the poor parts of town on a walk very often. I wonder why?? Often they have some excellent basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball diamonds in really poor areas. Why not load up the kids in the Lexus, and take them there for some quality rec time??

How about profiling at an airport??? I am 100% for it!!! Are you?? Who would you search? The 80 year old grandma, the 14 year old school girl, the computer toting businessman, or the group of chanting......... I personally dont give a rats ass about being politically correct in pre judging people. I keep my mouth shut, but I damn straight observe everything around me,#1 being people.

You know what?I am wrong on my past statement 80% of the time unless you are blind if, you have half a brain you CAN tell a book by its cover. Damn near every type of situation. But...... be damn careful of that 20%.

How ANYONE doesn't pre read almost every meaningful situation is beyond me. I do and I am correct at least 90% of the time. That 10% of the time that I have been wrong has often bit me in the ass.

Hmmm...interesting Yogi, but full of b.s.

I know of a 17 year old young lady, that during middle school, use to wear dark nail polish, black t-shirts, black framed glasses, ratty jeans, a piercing in the cartilage at the top of her ear and tons of ridiculous jewelry. I heard some kids call her "goth" because of the colors she wore and some kids called her conceited because she was very, very shy. I could go on to tell you of other ridiculous comments that were made about her, but I'm going to assume you understand what I'm getting at - she was a book, most definitely judged by her cover. Judged by what she looked like on the outside.

Moral to the story? That young girl had her dream come true this past weekend. She just received 2 early acceptance letters (with scholarships) to the top 2 universities of her choice: Northwestern University & NYU.

Can't wait to share your theory with that young lady - she happens to be my daughter.

I lived & worked in Manhattan
I moved with the mass in the streets & road the cattle cars
at rush hour.
Obviously you haven't
as you mentioned a seat!
There are no seats
You're lucky if you can get some air space crammed in there.
There packed to the door
faces & noses pressed against it
you can;t move.
the doors open and you fall out & then have to get in again
with more people trying to compress your ribcage
even sardines have it better

I did not make a comment to offend you.
I will agree that appearance does affect how you will be accepted in society.
A child who wears black nail polish is trying to be different.
There imay be a rebellion attitude or they are asking for attention.
Hopefully they won;t attract the wrong type of friends and go down the wrong road
When there is a need it can be filled with good or bad
so a parent has to be very aware of whose in the childs life

I liked to experiment with black nails and had a leather stud cuff
I got positive reiforcement from being smart
It made me feel good so school was fun for me
It opened up so many worlds for me
It captured my imagination in a productive way
Some are not so lucky

In the real world would you really want a doctor or dentist to come at you wearing leather and studs?
They may be a really good doctor it's true
but it's just not appropriate attire for someone in that profession.

Anyway, I still say you can't always judge a book by its cover.
Just saying in this life there is a more to a person than meets the eye.

Wow, this is good.

Any person fool enough to judge an adolescent by their appearance must have skipped being a teenager  How many of us went for shock value anyway? I was just a rocker chick, aka stoner ;).
Until we meet again, may God
Hold you in the palm of his hand.

Liz,

Congratulations on your daughter. It sounds like she is a VERY VERY intelligent girl.

Like many teens in their early or late teenage years it sounds like she was trying to figure out where she fits in this crazy crazy world.

Her intelligence & the support she received at home sounds like it got her there.

P.S. or shold it be B.S.- I am not a shrink, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. I must add I am around teenage kids all the time. Many times its their parents that totally screw them up. Through divorce, alcoholism, half truths, etc.... Many of the so called Goth kids, skateboarders, or withdrawn students are highly intelligent and are a TOTAL joy to be around.
