The picture size is small in the interest of a quick download. Greg Rolie, Ross Valory and Kevin Chalfant. Good stuff!

OK, heres my take, since I had never heard Kevin Chalfont before....WHY IN THE HELL DID THEY GET SA WHEN KS WAS A MUCH BETTER CHOICE....were they deaf, dumb and blind????? Was money an issue...????was KC not available? I have always liked Rolie and especially when he did a duet with SP and/ or KS in this vid.... Thanks AR for posting that...I'm just catching up on the music and bands from the mid 80's thru the early 90's as I was raising 2 teenagers and going thru a divorce in 1983-1984...I wanted to thank all of you for all the music you have posted here...it has given me hours of enjoyment of my fav band...I have always loved SP and Journey from the first note of OPEN ARMS that I heard...I thought SP had the most incredible, unique and soulful voice I had ever heard and still think so....However Jeff certainly brings a new life to the band and he is a marvelous talent....just love to watch him perform....

The lead singer is the one who acts as "frontman," and usually talks to the crowd, introduces songs and runs or jumps around the entire stage during the concert. Most of the other musicians pretty much stay in one area of the stage rarely say "boo" to the crowd. Is it any wonder that many lead singers start thinking that the band is there to simply back them up?
All eyes get focused on the lead singer. The lead singer can leave the band and sing "on his own" with a new backup band and essentially get the same sound that he got when he was with his original band (before anyone knew who he was). Maybe not the same quality of songs with the new band, but similar in sound. I would think it would take an awfully strong personality to fight against the constant temptation to think really highly of yourself and NOT become a "problem child."

I seen Kevin a couple of years ago at the Illinois State Fair. He can still hit the notes well, or at least he could a couple of years ago.![]()
