Steve Perry Q&A @ Fan Asylum

Some of Perry's responses were definitely interesting. That said, I just cannot envision him ever singing as a member of Journey again...even at the Rock and Roll HOF, if it ever came to that! I've never understood the thought process behind it, as a Perry fronted Journey would probably rival The Eagles reunion, in terms of the revenue it would generate for the band members. Hell, even if I despised my bandmates, I'd probably entertain the idea, for the almighty dollar!

I do know that JSS had a post on these boards, shortly after coming onboard with Journey about Perry returning to Journey. He basically said he would step aside, immediately for that to happen, but, went on to say "it is NEVER happening folks, trust me". I'm pretty sure with such a definitive statement by Jeff, he has a whole lot more insider knowledge about just how fractured this relationship is, than any of us will ever understand. I'm quite sure that any future Journey is going to have will be with Jeff at the helm.

I can, and can definitely see the HOF now happening. Hell, it's just my opinion, and maybe this is what Espee wants us to react like, but he is definitely trying to send a message here...Kind of like what Kruschev sent to President Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Look, Perry knows the last eight years were never going to change the world as Journey is seen in; however, I know perry respects and likes Jeff. Maybe Perry really feels as he is pushing 60, it's now or never. Perhaps he knows Jeff has some staying power and can actually take Journey somewhere. After all, isn't that what's in the name? Journey? Going somewhere?

It would rival the Eagles, especially in North America, but I am not so sure these guys despise each other. The respect is so immense, IMO, that respect could triumph agitation and personal problems.

I know Perry likes Jeff and respects his talents. Like I said earlier, maybe Perry realizes if it's ever going to happen, it has to be now. I am not saying it is, but I definitely don't think the door is closed. Neal's mind is never made up, and who the hell knows what the Hell he is thinking. I know that guys mind never ever stops.

Like you say John, Jeff not only can take Journey on a Journey, but is going to. It's just a matter of time.

Who wants Perry to rejoin? I don't. I respect the guy, but JSS is the future.

Since I never had the chance to see Perry live, a one-time thing would be great.... that would be me that would like to see them reunited for one night only.......amazed me that he said Neal Schon to Question #62....totally floored me.... so much respect is shown in that remark, its makes u wonder...

Jeff is most certainly the future....carol

That was brilliant! Thanks so much, Cyndy & Lora for all the extra work in getting this Q&A together. Oh, man I was laughing out loud on some of his remarks...like the kitty, kitty...and, hoochie-koo... He must be a lot of fun & he does seem playful!! And...sensitive, deep (ah, the moon)...rats, makes me love him more & that hurts! And, he loves tinsel! I love the old tinsel...it is like heavy lead & you can't find it anymore.

Journey will never be in the RnR HOF. That place is a joke anyway.

I've never met ANY singer that included drinking coffee as part of their warming up regiment.
Did that strike anyone as odd (Jeremy? Nora?)

The interview was semi-interesting. Looks like the really good questions were past over though.

Did Augeri really use tapes? What about Mansfield?

Dean, I will bet you $1000 on that. NOWAY IN HELL. I know who votes on that. You will lose.

They do not get in, nor does Styx, Foreigner or anyone else from AOR fame. It just won't happen.

They deserve it of course. That's not what I'm saying here.

Yeah, but Perry doesn't need the money. I did NOT get the impression from Perry's answers that he wanted to or would rejoin Journey. I got the impression he feels there is unfinished business, especially with Neal, and there seems to be an open door. Who knows though?

I really thought from his answers that he is holding out a peace offering to Neal. Whether the two of them ever do anything together or not remains to be seen, but I just got the distinct impression that he is reaching out to Neal. Why would he - when asked who he respects as a musician, etc., - name ONE name only - Neal Schon?

I think I'll sneak into a studio down here and see what comes out. At that time, I'll know what I have or not

I will take that bet. Foreigner, Styx or KISS don't deserve to be in. Journey does. Eventually, they will get in.

Kiss totally deserves it and YOU KNOW IT. Totally influential band, regardless of what you think musically. Alice Cooper deserves it too.

That HOF is a total joke though. It's for whoever the hippies at Rolling Stone happen to like.

KISS does NOT deserve it.

Influential? Putting on face makeup? THAT is influential? Dude, check yourself.

They are an embarrassment to themselves. KISS Army coffins for sale? Ok, fine, but don't ever tell me NASCAR advertises too much!

They play LIVE. Always have. Lick my balls. Ask Castronovo what he thinks of them. If Journey toured with them they would have to open. Just like they once did.

Of course Journey rips them a new asshole musically, but Kiss had their place, and the songs are good.

You fucking idiot, that was a planned lip, like being on Dick Clark. I am talking about when you pay to see them. You are delusional if you think Journey are bigger than Kiss in the history of rock.
