I do know singers that drink coffee to "open up" their vocal chords.I know one of them who drinks a few mugs of coffee right before the show, says it warms up his voice.
But coffee doesn't work the same on all the singers.Actually, medically speaking, cafeine dehydrates the vocal chords and makes the voice raspy.
I know singers who avoid coffee on concerts days for this very reason.

However, the BEST beverage for singers is water.Plain and plenty.

Laura, shut up. You know nothing of what you speak of. Did Perry sit down and tell you he pounds water on singing days?

Singers drink lemon water but to say they have to have water is like saying Michael loves little boys. Of fucking course they need water but doesn't have to be pure water.

Well, JSS might have declared it'll "never" happen...but Perry has just said:

"I'm fairly convinced we've gone our separate ways...."

This is certainly a change from previous hardline 'the divorce is final' type statements he's given in previous years....

48) There have been rumors going around saying that you have been in the studio doing some recording. Is this true? Or do you plan to do some recording in the very near future? We miss you so much and can’t wait to hear something new from you.

SP: I received many of this same question…..more than any others. I certainly lately have been wanting to record again. Working with all these other groups and especially the GUFF recording has fueled the fire. What I want to say is..... I'm the biggest critic I could ever have to deal with, and that's why I don't pay attention to critics. SO- that being said- I think I'll sneak into a studio down here and see what comes out. At that time, I'll know what I have or not. Thanks for all the years of love and support for me to sing, for in the end......I sing for you!

Problem is that he's said that EXACT SAME THING before. He'll have to do better then "see what comes out" for me to believe he's going to record. Later in the interview he says he has to "get to a recording studio first". So, obvously, IMO, all of the rumors of Perry recording were a bit over-zealous and premature. In fact, the Uncle Joe thing that was propped up here...where he said on some mailing list that he heard Perry's voice in a studio...was ABOUT A SONG FOR ANOTHER BAND - not a solo album. So, there is nothing here that about Perry recording solo that was not said LAST YEAR.

So, who was it that said that if Perry didn't release something next year that they were going to give up? Is that suddenly going to change, kinda like so many things Dean says?

Yup, same old lines... jeez. Now maybe those saying he's just about to do something will shut the hell up. Pretty lame interview and a lot of dopey questions IMO. I was surprised that "What's your favorite color" wasn't in there...

Yes, I thought it was odd. Caffeine's bad for the voice. water is the best.

Sure sounds as if he is really wanting a chance again with Journey. The way it was worded, the way it was said. The answers, "Neal Schon."

Sure hit me in the middle of the head.

Then you guys are not reading the bit where he talks about "Love". He basicaly compares Neal with a relationship with someone you love but know you can't be with again...which goes along with something he said years ago...that he didn't believe a person can 'fall out of love'. Because, if you fall out of love then you were really never in love in the first place.

So, IMO, what he is saying is that he can feel love and respect for Neal, but he knows they will never work together again....Just as he can still love Sherrie, even if they can never be a couple again. That is the comparson I think he is trying to make.

True Monker - but then he said: "Neal and I could be in that place."

Just read thru that and once again - not too much of substance there.... no real gritty answers. I don't like my chances of ever getting an interview.

He's never said anything bad about Neal as a musician that I'm aware of. He always talks about the connection he had with Neal's playing. And, seriously, if the band sold so many million albums, of course then Neal would be the guy he got the most out of musically. No mention Cain. Hmm.

I wouldn't say a complete 'never'....I would imagine the one way it will definitely come ot play is if/when Journey are inducted into the Hall of Fame, I know as he appeared at the WOF, this would be too huge a moment for him not to appear wth the guys & as most know about the event, usually the original lineup or what's left of them perform. THIS could be the one excpetion I see them sharing the stage again.

But...he hasn't really been open about saying warm/positive things about him either, right? It was my impression that he'd kinda rather not talk about him at all, because then there would be all kinds of speculation (something like that after the WOF ceremony). Gee, whoda thunk...?

That is what got me too on that statement, the word "fairly" he added. I don't believe he will or wants to join Journey again, but IMO it does sound like he wants to be on speaking terms with Neal again.

The only time I drink Coffee is in the AM, to wake up......not before recording / doing a live show.

Studio: Poland Spring water (room-temperature / slightly cool)...I go thru a ton of it.

Shows: Seltzer water with Lemon & Lime wedges....clears out the throat.

Jeff, can you speculate on any other scenario that this might happen. We love you and don't want you to go anywhere, but this would be a dream come true for some of us. And to get both of you on stage together...

Thank you for your input on this, BTW. 8)

I agree Shania, the one he had the most musical chemistry with and the most friction too........IMO that is what created that great timeless music. That is one of the reasons I see good things ahead with JSS hopefully, he seems to have the balls like Perry to push/pull Neal on some creative choices.

This is pure speculation like everything else here, but maybe he is making these comments in the hope that Neal would respond to him? He seems to be a very proud man and this is his way of trying to make a connection? He says he's been working on himself... I wonder what Neal thinks about this interview... Would he (Neal) be too proud to maybe, let's say, send him a Christmas card?? Even if just Neal and Steve got together and worked on and maybe finished some of the music they evidently have tucked away, it would be awesome beyond words!!! Gad, I think I've gotten carried away... Andrew just said there wasn't much there...
