Yeah, I thought about that and all of a sudden I realized what it was! I'm probably totally wrong, but it makes sense for Perry. What "came to me" has nothing to do with singing...then again, maybe it was just gas on my part instead of any kind of epiphany...

Steve Perry drank coke, as in coca cola but it is way over the top to accuse someone of drug use, unless you have first hand knowledge and even then its unfair to post that type of information on public display!

I think he has some semi serious polyps on his chords from the what I can hear on TBF (i still like his voice on that album ). Those do not really improve without surgery and I wonder if maybe he had surgery after I stand alone and it killed his voice ? Just speculation... He is a recluse and we have no clue what he has been up to.. Listen to him speak on Behind the Music and in the interview clips related to the recent baseball stuff. Raspy like a 2 pack a day smoker. At times it sounded like he has a partial paralyzed vocal cord. Maybe he was sick ? I think something happened to his voice that he has not made public. Gotta wonder what Schon is prohibited from discussing concerning Perry via NDA. He may very well have had a stroke for all we know !

I am a fan, but he pisses me off. You stupid fuckers give him a free pass. Oh my, an actual interview - WHO GIVES A FUCK?

Believe it or not, I agree with you!!!
Yes, it's nice for the die-hard fans to hear something from him and get to know a little more about him personally. However, this "I'm thinking about recording again" BS is getting old! Either do something new, or TELL people that you're not interested in doing anything new and enjoy your retirement!

What does it matter if he sings again or not? So you all can rip him apart for not sounding like he did 25 yrs ago if he did? I, personally, just want him to be happy with himself & it sounds like he is...and, I am happy he wants to share that now with his fans in a Q&A. I like that personal touch, his honesty & memories...and, frankly...I'll take Q&As over new music any day!

Most of us want him to "be happy." And you're right, it doesn't matter if he sings again or not. HOWEVER, Steve Perry has done quite a job keeping the Journey catalog selling. It seems like he pops out every couple of years to remind us how great the music WAS. He seems to be asking us to buy essentially (no pun intended) the same thing over and over. And for the most part, we have. Well, it's a relationship....artist/fans. We've held up our end of the bargain....we've bought EVERYTHING Perry-era Journey. The sales figures tell you that. And what have we gotten in return? Little/nothing. Vague, ambiguous, screened interviews. A cameo here and there, too. All along, the only thing we ever wanted to know is whether or not he plans on recording, and if so, when. If he would answer some of these questions the bickering would stop, or at least subside. We've lined his pockets quite nicely. We have every right to expect some questions regarding his musical intentions to be answered. The sales figures show that we've been "faithful." What has he done in the last 10 or so years to reciprocate? A few interviews and a cameo or two? Gee, thanks. He seems very willing to take, but not very willing to give. Regardless, he is, and will always be, my favorite artist.

Not a huge Perry fan here anymore, but you actually enjoy the Q&As more than you would a new song or CD from Perry. Now that is an odd choice in my opinion, coming from a fan of "The Voice".

Not by far my choice! Although all the Q&A were nice I was really counting on more from Mr.Perry! With all his fans why not come back? Why does he tease his fans. It's all and good he's happy, but why is he keeping his name out in the public as if he is coming back?I for one do not understand. I was disappointed.

well, yes...I am a fan of THE VOICE but also a fan of the MAN...maybe because I'm more of a reader than a listener (a huge biography/autobio reader) & I didn't start enjoying music until I re-discovered SP/Journey, but that is just me & not the majority on these forums. I also prefer the "older music" & "the Classic Journey"...I guess, I like knowing HIM now as opposed to hearing some new songs FROM HIM (which is usually in collaboration & hard to determine who wrote what lines). I don't need new music from him in order to keep being a fan & I don't feel cheated that we aren't getting any.

This isn't a marriage where we took vows with him - he doesn't owe us anything, we don't owe him anything - he chose to give & share that music & incredible voice with us & we responded...we don't have to keep buying the music - he isn't holding a whip over us... lol! That he even wants to share his personal thoughts & feelings with the fans is pretty amazing & giving & if he chooses never to again than that is that...I accept it - again, this isn't a personal relationship & I think too many fans mistake it for that because they have this Internet. JMO.

Steve Perry drank coke, as in coca cola but it is way over the top to accuse someone of drug use, unless you have first hand knowledge and even then its unfair to post that type of information on public display!

Those are libelous words to throw around, buster. I happen to KNOW he didn't. That is an out and out malicious lie. Certainly you have better things to do than slander someone!

I would suggest you leave that gossip alone. It is flat out wrong.
