Although I don't think it's REAL distinctive, it seems to be like he may have gotten back some of his range. Anybody else think so??? :?:

Anyone know where I can hear the entire interview???

Go to their website; find the "LISTEN NOW!" button, and sit back and enjoy.

Now 10 minutes into the show; Steve talked about the White Sox...they're playing DSB...

No problem at all. It's converting to mp3 now. Hope everybody enjoys. :)

Hey, does anybody else find that Uncle Joe turns the background music up too loud while his interview subjects are talking? That kinda annoys me. lol

I included it in the interview since it's new. It's uploading now. Hang on for like 12 minutes (it's a 20meg mp3) and it shall be yours. :)

It sounds pretty close to the original Journey - I thought maybe it would end up sounding really weird but it sounds good - um, the lead singer just doesn't have the power or emotion that SP always has...I hear SP's voice too & he sounds great - sounds like his TBF voice (which I love)...I think I probably prefer the Journey version, but it is cool that SP did this with a new young band.

...And NO, you cannot definitely hear perry. He is so mixed in and is no way clear or loud.

Wow, you're kidding, right? Perry is as clear a day. :)

I've listened to the whole thing,Fred.I know some people thought it was a boring interview, but I would disagree.
I don't know what exactly was expected of him,but if that means "Hey everyone,I am here to tell you that I'm in the studio recording my brand new album"...please!That's ridiculous!
If SP ever decides to do an album he will not break the news in a radio interview among jokes and memories. An even like that would be much more professionally orchestrated. The radio show would be a way to promote something new,not to officially announce it.

So,knowing that he will not reveal a new solo poject,I wanted to hear other things...I sure did.
What struck me was that when he was asked how does he feel sitting in the studio and watching a band recording, aside of saying that he sits back and "bites his fists",he said something else...almost the same wording he used before releasing FTLOSM:"I am getting kind of creative again".Then, just like now,he backed away from the business for some long years, and did the same thing he is doing now - recording and producing for/with other musicians.

It's like deja vu.

My feeling was that behind the jokes and the laughs during this interview, underneath his amused tone of voice,SP was trying to say he is in a good place again.Didn't want to reveal too much, didn't want to give away his intentions, because,as always,he doesn't want to be pressured.I remember what he said about his appearance at the HWOF and why he didn't tell anyone he was going to be there..."I had to lie to everybody, just so I could have the choice to choose."
It really makes sense to me,and I don't blame him for being secretive and vague about possible solo recordings.
Can you imagine how many people would bug him about a new album? All the rumors and the speculations that would arise?
SP just doesn't need that,he's had enough throughout the years.

My take is that if SP will record a new album,he will want to do it in peace,at his own pace and we will find out only when the record will be done and ready to be released.
I for one,am eagerly waiting to be shocked. 8)

Mmmm....

Good post Shania, I like and respect those views put forth. Perhaps my use of the word boring was hasty.

Frustrating a little perhaps, but I also enjoyed hearing about Steve being in the studio and he certainly did sound happy.

EXACTLY!!! If that's all they'll play live, I at least want to hear the original singer sing them.

Unless they kiss and make up. Those are issues you nor I will ever have definite answer to. However these men need to make amends. Sooner or later they will, then and only then will we see something worthy of the name Journey. :D

Heard the song and read the excerpts posted here from the Joe Benson interview.
Still I can't understand all the excitement about this.
I understand that
SP didn't speak at all about the 1996 fiasco, about his future plans, about why he is releasing a Journey dvd/best of when a new Journey record is about to be released. Time is the key they say...
Nor I see all the excitement for this new and usual punk-rock version of a classic rock song. Done once was enough for me, I way prefer the original version of this Journey song for many reasons, first of all that only Perry was singing.
Now, if the guy has any plans he's playing them smart. Seems like his millions fans are more than happy to just hear him speaking, so life is good again.
I was hoping for more content inside....

Perry was promoting the Journey legacy....and much as we might criticize him for many things... keeping the back catalogue going and making it look and sound as good as it can surely shouldn't be one of them....

I'm kinda diggin this song. It's faster, and it's punk. But so what.
Perry does sound good. And whether it's really him or ProTools or whatever, I really don't care. I like what I hear right now.

I'd be very interested in hearing what Journey has to say about this cover. I bet they like it.
I wonder if they had to bless it in any way before it could be used. ???

Excellent Post!! Agree with you whole heartedly!

I thought his interview was FAR from boring. I enjoyed hearing from him! No pressure from this Perry fan, IF he does it, I'll be VERY HAPPY, and if he never does it, I still will remain his fan! :D
