The Announcement We've All Been Waiting For!

Postby Enigma869 » Tue Dec 19, 2006 1:33 am

In honor of all of my MR friends who keep hoping every week is "The Week", we bring you this!

Fresh off the presses, we bring you Journey's "Official Statement" about their lead singer:

"First off, we would like to thank our loyal fans for standing by us, through a tumultuous year. We would like to thank our friend Jeff Scott Soto for stepping in on a moment's notice, and allowing us to continue on the tour with Def Leppard. Jeff is a consummate professional and a tireless worker. His energy reinvigorated us, as a band. Due to ongoing health issues, Steve Augeri is no longer able to carry out the lead singer's duties for Journey. We thank Steve for a great 8 years, and we wish him well in all of his future endeavors. Going forward, we are very happy to announce that Jeff Scott Soto is the new lead singer of Journey, on a permanent basis. This will be the last lineup Journey ever has. Journey existed before Augeri, and we'll carry on without him. Thanks to Jeff for allowing the Journey to continue. See you all in the UK early in 2007".

Signed:
Neal, Jonathan, Ross, Deen, and Jeff!

Edited for accuracy :D

The real announcement actually reads:

"Our old singer's voice is fucked. We had to boot him out and sort out severance pay and shit. We will never forget our 5 great years with Stephan Augery. There's a new guy singing now. He's with us until we can get Perry of his butt to belt it all out one more time. That cat loving freak is driving me insane! Anyway, like I say, thanks to Stephanie for his 3 years of great work and welcome to the new guy. You'll like the new guy. He doesn't dance like a dick. We love our fans."

Here's what the official statement should say:

Dear Journey fans,

Thank you for making our 2006 tour with Def Leppard a huge success. Needless to say, we were "caught with our pants down" a while back. However, thanks to Jeff Scott Soto, Def Leppard and Journey fans alike, the tour pressed on. We deeply regret our selfish and greedy decision. Steve Augeri was unable to sing such a demanding catalog and we resorted to less than honest practices. Moving forward, we intend on restoring the Journey name with Jeff Scott Soto at the helm. Steve Augeri has stepped down due to chronic voice problems, but more importantly because his presence on stage will remind many of the bad decisions the band made as a whole. We thank him for his services and wish him and his family the very best. We hope to emulate Jeff Scott Soto as professionals and recapture the fire that made us a once great band. Lastly, we have decided to move in a different direction as it pertains to management. We'd really like to thank Azoff Management, but we can't think of anything to thank them for. Like a phoenix, we hope to rise once again. We look forward to your continued support and promise to create, market and PLAY new material that will knock your socks off.

Sincerely, Neal, Ross, Jon, Deen and Jeff.

Anyone who is a fan of 'Todays Journey' knows that the above statement is 100% bogus.

When the current band does decide to make an announcement concerning their new lead singer it will of course be a.............. TAPED announcement. Thats how THEY do it now!!!!!

Nice try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st time I saw SA go to the drums & turn around, I thought oh he's copying Perry. When he did that wiggle-dance thang, I almost died laughing. Right about then "dick" was the furthest thing from my brain. I was thinking "Pussy" tho.

Yes me & my sis have one track minds. We think about penises a lot! What is wrong w/that? We know what u guys think about as u tell us & post enough pix so that we never have to guess.

Whatever way u want to string it, that wiggle dance was just not manly. It was very fem. That guy danced better than most women I know & in a more feminine way. If he'd worn a dress & had a close shave & a padded bra, I would have been hard pressed to know which sex he was.

Never saw anything manly about him. Even though Perry may have had some feminine mannerisms about him there was never any doubt that he was all man. Augeri was just a wus.

LOL...where were you when I needed you?? I was having a tough time with SA in concert a few years ago, giving him a try, actually more than once and was pretty "weirded out." Huge push for him then and ANY review (to include mine) that was not "spotless perfect" was looked at as mindless support for Perry. It was what is was for me...and still is!

That said, I love what JSS appears to bring to the band and have high hopes for their future once again! (But Perry as front man will always be the TRUE Journey for me!)

I have had the pleasure of seeing Journey every year since Mr. Augeri came on board. Obviously, I look at men in a different light than a few posting here. There was nothing remotely feminine or 'wussy' about him. I've also seen Perry & JSS with Journey. Seems to me all three are "manly men".....but then I see them for who they are - and not who I want them to be (and for that matter - how someone else wants me to see them). :D

Peace to all~

I don't think SA is woman-like at all really. Okay, maybe at a push the hair is a bit.... but apart from that I don't really see why folk think that.
