This a tough one. I'd have to say Ask The Lonely. It rocks so much live as well.

I'd have to rank "Be Good to Yourself" as one of the cheesiest songs Journey ever recorded! Every time I hear that song, I think "What were they thinking"?

My fave Journey song (my fave song of any group) - Faithfully. After that, it depends on my mood. Right now, I've been listening a lot to Signs of Life and To Be Alive Again (please don't throw things at me too hard!). I've also been listening to Rubicon. Those songs really get me "where I live", so to speak at this time in my life.

Damn, so many great songs. I have to go with Somethin to Hide for the ballad. This is back in the day when Neal played a little slower and his playing on this song is wonderful and the lead builds to a crescendo before the vocals come back in and especially near the end of the song where Perry & him double up the melody on vocals & guitar. For the rocker I would go with Escape. Such a great pulsing song that just carries you along.

Like I wrote - #1 is easy for me. After that.... Depends on my mood. ;) It is damn near impossible. Great topic though, it is always interesting to see what other people think.

lights

Postby cyndy! » Tue Dec 19, 2006 3:40 am

it's tough to pick just one because i like different songs for different reasons - melody, lyrics, memories, etc. the one that seems to hold the most meaning for me is "lights." my family moved from san francisco to san jose for a short time when i was a teenager. i had no friends, no car & was dying to get back to my city by the bay. it was at that time that i discovered journey on the radio, shortly before infinity was released. they caught my attention because the dj said they were formed by ex-members of santana & were based in san francisco. i was just getting into their progressive sound when they released "lights." steve's voice with neal's guitar, those lyrics - that was it. i was hooked! i now hear the song in my head everyday when i wake up, look out my bedroom window & see the sun shining on the bay.

btw, did you know that after every sf giants game, as everyone is exiting, they play "i left my heart in san francisco" then "lights?" makes me feel all warm & fuzzy.

Cyndy, just as I was hitting the send button you must've posted...I was thinking of "Lights" and going to say that that song cannot go in any category because it is the song that hooked me....when I said, "who is THAT singing?"
