Um...I was just listening to my Air Supply Greatest Hits yesterday...

I'm glad someone else besides me likes air supply..i too have the greatest hits and the first concert i ever went to was the BEE GEES...loved them..took my daughters too, they were about 8 and 10 at the time...very cool concert

I have to admit I HATE Air Supply. Soooooooooo sappy. My best friend/roommate in college loved them & Barry Manilow. She subjected me to their music ALL the time. I would blast Journey as loud as possible (till the neighbors complained). Anything to drown them out & that Manilow crapola. Gag gag gag.

I like some early Bee Gees stuff but not that SNF crap, sorry! Ooh the age of disco. May it rest in peace.

Lionel Ritchie was ok when he was w/the Commodores. But that song "Hello is it me ur looking for" ouch. I gotta get that out of my head. Damn. I hated that in college so bad. Yuck. Gag.

OK Susie! You're ruining all my adolescent memories here. Those songs were popular when I was in, like, 6th or 7th grade. Just started our school dances, and everyone was so melodramatic. We had boyfriends for about a week. "All Out of Love" was a major (I actually typed 'majour' there, oops!) tearjerker. I had "LTS" on a 'hits' record by K-Tel (haha) and I hated it. I love it now, though!!!! "Hello" was a biggie in about the 10th or 11th grade, it was a HUGE song for me & my friends (we had a circle of friends who were also boyfriend/girlfriend). Of course, my main high school boyfriend was a huge Journey fan, and was an awesome drummer, so there ya have it! I'm still kicking myself for the wasted time I spent on Duran Duran and Wham! When I should have been driving to Philly to hear SP tell me to Be Good to Myself!!!

I can relate about not liking Journey at first.

I hated "Don't Stop Believin'" when I first became a Journey fan. I would hear "Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world, she took the midnight train going anywhere....Just a city boy....." and then I'd switch the radio station before I gagged. lol

And I hated LTS too.

Now I think they're great. I guess one's tastes just change over the years.

Interesting Jeremy. Thanks for doing that. I listened a few times to the 1st & last. Big difference. He has a more whispery effect now as well as higher pitched. I just wonder if it's deliberate or not. I'd love to get a candid chat w/the guy!

Lou Gramm has been open about his stuggles with his voice since his brain surgery. I wish Steve would be a bit more open. But he's a really private guy and I can understand that.

Here's a clip of Steve Perry speaking in various interviews over the years. The segments are spaced out pretty evenly and I think it's pretty obvious based on what he's speaking about as to when one segment ends and another begins.

The segments span from 1978 to 2006.

You'll hear 1978, 1983, 1986, 1997, 2001, and finally, 2006.

He's speaking calmly on a person to person level, and not onstage. So this should be the best indicator of his normal speaking voice and how it's changed/evolved/matured over the years.

He's definitely gotta have some wear and tear by now.

To me, it sounds like his voice was at its' deepest in the 1983 clip "we talk about the old then we do the new" and higher in the 1986 to 2006 clips. Do you hear that too?

There is less of the gravel sound in the 2006 clip as well.

I did admit it....I said that it was "wear and tear" from being a "road warrior" and giving his ALL at EVERY performance.....that's why there's the "gravel" happening now....and yes - I'm adding that it DOES have a strange, "higher pitch" to it.
