New little VH tidbit

Postby Angiekay » Wed Dec 13, 2006 1:17 am

It's looking more and more like David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen will reunite at least one more time in Van Halen. Eddie and his brother Alex are prepping for a tour next year, with Eddie's 15-year-old son Wolfgang on bass instead of Michael Anthony, but no singer has been officially announced. Now, according to blabbermouth.net, Eddie told Guitar World magazine, "I'm telling Dave, 'Dude, get your ass up here and sing, bitch! Come on!'... As it stands right now, the ball is in Dave's court. Whether he wants to rise to the occasion is entirely up to him, but we're ready to go."

There had also been talk recently that another member of the Van Halen clan would be the new singer, but most reports have said the job belongs to Roth.

As for having his son in the band, Eddie said, "Wolfgang breathes new life into what we're doing. He brings youthfulness to something that's inherently youthful. He's only been playing bass for three months, but it's spooky. He's locked tight and puts an incredible spin on our (stuff). The kid is kicking my ass! He's spanking me now, even though I never spanked him. To have my son follow in my footsteps on his own, without me pushing him into it, is the greatest feeling in the world."
There's no word on when the new lineup will be officially unveiled.

He can't do that. You see, Mike is good friends with that notoriously hard-to-get-along-with asshole Sammy Hagar. And any friend of Sammy's is obviously an enemy of Van Halen.

Too bad Eddie is too stupid to see that Valerie and Sammy were the two best things that ever happened to him. He chooses to surround himself in shit.

Anybody got a time machine?

If only they could've stuck with a name they used to go by -- like Genesis, Mammoth or Trojan Rubber Co. instead of the eventual VH. The four parties involved at the time of choosing VH as the band's name surely had no idea that things would be the way they are today. Too bad. :(

The tour won't last long. Some, like me, may be curious to see if Wolfy can play, and if Dave can still not sing. But I will leave early like I did during the last VH show with the reunion tour w/Sammy, because Ed was sloppy, Ed was drunk, Ed was yelling at people and you could just tell that it was not fun to be performing. If a band casts that vibe, then there is no magic and the band is a parody of itself. You might as well go see the Atomic Punks at that point.

A different name would not have helped. It's that old thing about...when a band becomes successful, often times members of said band start thinking "Hey, I'm the reason...it's all ME. Fuck those other guys. I don't need them". This happened to Roth...and it happened to Eddie. The only difference between them is, I think Roth figured it out pretty quick. Eddie STILL thinks that.

Punks

The Atomic Punks sound, and play V.H. better than V.H. I saw that mess in Indy, how sad.I doubt that Ed will ever get his head out of his back pocket.

More smoke up our asses

Postby Angiekay » Wed Dec 20, 2006 5:42 am

Noted photographer Ross Halfin says the current lineup of Van Halen is as good musically as the group ever was. Halfin, who's shot virtually every great rock act for the past 30 years, has been taking pictures of Van Halen since their early days. He got together with the band last week in Southern California, and on his rosshalfin.co.uk website, he wrote, "I'm not saying who or what I shot, but I will tell you Edward (Van Halen) played a couple of CDs, which I thought were from 1978 (it was from two days ago) of Van Halen rehearsing with Wolfgang Van Halen on bass. It was jaw-droppingly amazing. They played 'On Fire,' 'I'm The One,' (and) 'Atomic Punk.' I'm not listing the rest, but I will tell you the band sounded untouchable. On 'Jamie's Crying,' they did a long bass-lead jam on the intro -- the band rocked."

Halfin added, "It was as exciting as the first time I saw them. They will come back and destroy the world. One of the tightest, freshest sounding groups ever.... Having Edward's son on bass has rejuvenated them."
Halfin wouldn't say who was singing and there's been no official word as to who will be on vocals. However, in Guitar World magazine, Edward Van Halen challenged David Lee Roth to put up or shut up as to whether the singer wants his old job back.
Van Halen is currently plotting a tour for next year.

In order to get me to go to a show with that lineup. (No Mike!) they would have to release a kickass song. Don't think that's gonna happen. I just don't think Vh will sound the same without Mike's background vox.

If I am DLR, I am saying "I'm ready to sing and Mikey's ready to play the bass, Sammy told me he'd loan him to you for an album/tour ( :P ). So when you VanCliquey brothers are ready for us, give us a ring. "

Fuck DLR/Sammy/Mikey should go do another Sam and Dave tour if the VanNepotisms are gonna continue this posturing nonsense.

Believe me, Ralph Saenz blows DLR out of the water singing early VH! The last time I saw DLR on the tour with Sammy, Sammy was AMAZING and totally rocked. DLR had one foot in the grave. He doesn't have the voice, the scream or even the kick anymore. Gotta hand it to DLR for what he created with the band but his time has come and gone.

I say to Eddy....if you want the early VH sound back, HIRE RALPH SAENZ- he is flawless in voice, kicks, screams AND stage presence! If not, get Sammy back in the band...he is a MONSTER still!

Sam wont come back......ever!!! Why come back to such a train wreck!!! Even if Mike and Sam were offered a million, they'd refuse. Sam and Mike would'nt steal peoples money for a half arsed show. They'd do all the work and keep it fun, while Ed would spoil it for everyone and drink, smoke and whatever. This band is gone!!!! Its gonna suck next year.

I think I remember Alex saying in an article they tried Ralph out, but went with Gary Cherone instead.I like the Atomic Punks.Ralph is alot better there than he was in L.A. Guns.

But the whole reason this wreck is even gonna happen is because Eddie needs Dave more than Dave needs Eddie now.Eddie may have sobered up enough to realize that the original lineup is all that is gonna save VH.Anything else would be just pissing on the bands legacy.
