Thank You

Postby Andrew » Thu Dec 21, 2006 10:43 am

Hi folks,

Just wanted to post a stand-alone message of thanks for all the great feedback, comments, e-mail and general all round appreciation for the feature and for the interviews.

THe positive feedback really does spur me on to do bigger and better again and it keeps the passion burning.

I won't let the negative attitude of another forum affect my thinking at all - I think the most balanced view of the Journey fanbase can be seen here. That includes a few negative comments here about the interviews, which I am more than happy to accept when (in these few instances) are explained resonably.

Personally I feel there is a lot to look forward to in Journey and when speaking to JSS yesterday, I know he is 'frothing at the mouth' to get going.

Thanks again for the feedback (good or bad) and Merry Christmas to all :D

Drew, we THANK YOU!

I think the other site will come around soon enough. After the initial backlash, this will be a MUCH easier change than the Perry to Augeri change.

Things are actually quite civil on both boards, and I am really liking that.

you should be proud dude. What drives you is it the journalist in you or is it the music addiction that you have fuels you?

Music addiction always. On a bad day, there's always a killer tune that will help the cause.

That said, I really want to get into writing more (I have a killer project idea...) - away from just posting news and writing reviews....but when is there time?

You're welcome & thank you, Andrew...we know it's been tough on you this year but you let people have their say here and that is refreshing. We know you are a great fan of this band and all the members past & present. Watching the videos you posted of JSS - I can see, hear & feel a new surge of fire going on in the band. I think that with SA there was a different feel (more laid back, sedate, isolated) which some people preferred...I like energy & interaction amongst the band members & back to the audience which is what I sense with Jeff now...reminiscint of my fave Journey/Perry era, obviously. I also feel that Jeff will bring in a younger crowd. Maybe, they shouldn't wait til 2008 to tour the U.S., tho'!

Happy Holidays!

You did a great job Andrew..I'm surprised how Neal and Jeff are being treated on the official site..I know you don't want stuff brought over here, but you have held up your end of the bargain and they have not

That is terriffic news! With Jeff's over-the-top ability, energy and talent, there are so many possibilities for Journey again. The future appears bright and I cannot wait to see where this all is going!

A BIG thank you from across the pond! (although I'm not sure how many ponds separate us,lol!)

I have been reading MR's front page for almost 3 years, but I don't remember enjoying an article/review/interview so much as I enjoyed this wonderful labour of love that you did for Journey! :)

Nothing impresses me more as a journalist who really loves and understands what he's writing about.
You,Andrew, are one of those few,in the best league out there!

Again, thank you for your effort and I hope you will finally relax and enjoy the peace of the Holidays!

Merry Christmas to you and your family! :)

Andrew...

I think ANY journalist on the planet will ALWAYS endure some criticism if certain questions aren't asked. That said, I'm acutely aware of the fact that many interviewees (in fact, most!) always lay out certain topics that simply aren't open for discussion. I don't know whether or not this was the case in your sitdown with Journey, but, it certainly wouldn't surprise me. I think because it's been so widely discussed in the circle of Journey fans, it will definitely leave some fans scratching their collective heads that there was zero mention of it.

All that said, I think any good interview is one in which the reader of that interview learns something, and I definitely learned a thing or two, so I thank you for your hard work and putting the piece out there for all to read! Even learning what a huge Perry fan Deen appears to be was quite interesting for me. I sometimes forget how old Perry is, until Deen talks about how he learned to sing (at the age of 11, no less), while listening to Perry! You're an obvious fan of these guys, and you got to do what all of us would love to do...Interview our favorite band! Keep the interviews coming!

One more thing...I read some of the negativity on the other site, regarding your interviews. Pay zero attention to these yahoos! The reality is that every one of those people on that site know where to come for real Journey information and real Journey discussion and not just the PR propaganda that site spews on a daily basis!

You did a fabulous job on these interviews Andrew. I'm looking forward to those bigger and better things. I hope one of them is a book about all that you know about the music business and the people in it, both the good and the bad.

I'm glad Jeff's "frothing" because we're drooling for him. Like I told you when I heard his interview, I think I'm in love with the guy .

Don't get me wrong... If Tapegate is never addressed (like the TRUE Perry crap that went on), I am fine with it.

We have a Journey to be proud of again. That is much better!

Shame that it is being dismissed as a 'fluff piece' by those unhappy with the contents :P

I had to laugh... and I told myself not to get into it with a couple of them, but I couldn't help myself

Andrew,

By chance did you ever ask JSS opinion on the Arrival & Generations CDS?
The interviews were real nice! So what is JSS gonna do on his downtime?

Sure...but perhaps that's best between him and me - not for me to say. Downtime? He's getting ready for 2007! No downtime!

Don't u get it?
Those same people will cast stones at ANYTHING from the new lineup from here on out.
First up! - The MR.com Interviews.
Next - an album, TV appearances, whatever - u name it, they will piss all over it.

Just how Perryfaithful and that cabal of homogenuous Perry-infatuated crones has been acting as a wet diaper against anything Augeri-related for almost 8 years.
This is no different.

Don't take it personally. They are bashing anything even slightly related to the new lineup.
So they pounce on you as yet another channel of venting their frustrations at Augeri's sub-standardness and the band's tremendous coup in moving frwrd.

If the Journey feature sucked I think me or Deano would've been the first to let u have it.

I agree with most of what you're saying TNC. I only see one little thing to quibble about.

It was the sub-standardness that made us such "wet diapers", but we'll be all bikini panties and thongs for Jeff. :P
