Augeri out due to vocal illness, but launching new solo CD?

Postby chad » Thu Dec 21, 2006 3:39 am

This seemed to be a strategic blunder in the press release.

The stress of the road and travel is different than resting up for months, then going into a studio and cutting when you feel fine.

To be honest, I couldn't care if any of them toured for a while. Augueri, Perry, or Journey - but I DO want to hear some new music. I'm pretty excited about Augeri's records and I'm also really curious what a jss fronted journey album will be like. For me, the longer they tour, the less albums of new music there will be, so I HOPE they give touring a bit of a break and do some albums.

This Time- I also hope they get some record company backing them.

I get the feeling that he felt a little creatively stifled in Journey. It'll be interesting to see how his music stands on it's own. I hope it rocks.

hehe...haha....HAHA.......sorry, the concept of Augeri creatively stifled is hilarious, especially since the only 2 songes he penned on his own are two of the worst Journey songs ever....butterfly...*shudder*...

Seems kindda weird that he is working on a solo cd. I think at some point a year or two ago in another interview SA mentioned doing a solo project. Guess he healed up and no word was mentioned. You think at some point the band/ management would of said something but hey lets move on with JSS !!!!

I get what you're saying, I'm just noticed that the vibe I got from him in interviews that I read was that he seemed like he'd kinda rather be doing his own thing.

Yes, sorry It didn't come off the way I wanted too say it. What I am trying too say is we hear nothing for five months and then we hear Augeri is working on a solo project. The band or management never said a word about the health of Augeri from July until December. Just thought it would have been better for them to just not mention it at all. I know that lawerys are involved.

I am 100% behind this move and have been since i saw JSS in July. I just found that part of the press release a bit weird.
I loved the work that Andrew did and thought the interviews were great !!!!!

Notice how I didn't mention whether I liked those songs, Susie.

There are about five songs that I don't skip when I listen to Generations...and neither of those are them.

I'm just commenting on a frustration that I've picked up on from Steve A. that his songs were (rightly or wrongly) given second billing as long as he was in Journey.

As to those particular songs....not a fan of them, but that wasn't my point.

And I can't picture you as my grandma!

I honestly don't think Augeri being replaced had much to do with his "chronic throat infection". If you read the announcement, the only mention of any "issues" with Augeri is that Jeff "filled in" for Steve due to an "illness". There is no other mention of any illness or vocal issue in the rest of the press release. I think the fact that Augeri seemingly has all these plans to record new cd's certainly indicates that his voice probably isn't as wrecked as many thought. That said, it's entirely possible that he simply wasn't cut out to sing songs that were written for Perry's voice!

the statement reads like typical management PR BS that even they can't keep straight.

BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Sadly, I wasn't very entertained by the content of 2 of the interviews either, (Friga's and Schon's). Too long a wait for the "announcement AND the interviews. Nothing against Andrew, just all the hype, and then fizzle. Management dropped the ball by not getting a deal done sooner. Also by not being at least a LITTLE honest with the fans.

Oh, and as far as a NEW solo release form Stevie Awesome? Yeah ok. I'll be the first in line for THAT one.

I think it has more to do with what was said in the Neal/Deen interviews...
Neal wasn't happy, hadn't been for awhile, felt "like the brakes were on..."

I think this ALL had more to do with 'Chemistry' than anything else.
Face it, Neal is in constant motion; he's a creative Freak!
I don't think he ever really felt a creative bond with Augeri.
Throw in that, the health/stamina issues and the lack of faith it seems management had in
that line-up and you are sitting on a veritable Time-Bomb.
I'm just surprised it lasted this long; I'm actually surprised we ever got the Generations album.

With that said, I am just so ready to move on...
2008 can't get here fast enuff!!!

I have to add that it certainly (to me) says volumes that NONE of the guys have talked to SA since his departure, sans the concert he showed up at.

i had a comment much like yours in another thread,, i have always thought deen and SA would be the close ones , joining togehter and all,, guess not.. i also find it interesting that during the interview that deen asks cain if he has talked to SA... does this band ever sit down and converse about the same junk we do?? i think not.. :D

Neal has issues.....

Postby roknroseville » Thu Dec 21, 2006 2:21 pm

Neal,
So now King Schon is happy? He wasn't too happy with soul sirkus ( He paid for everything he quoted )
Hve you ever notice Neal has more problems with the monitors than anyone else in the world?
I've been in the front row for 5 shows in the last 3 years & everytime he's shouting at the sound guy big time!
Generations was a crap album!! Augeris tunes were the only bright spot on that dark record.
I look forward to Steve Augeris solo cd & Tall Stories...

Not true... Neal was over-joyed with SS and the music they created and the live performances...
He was pissed that management pretty much ham-strung him and didn't give them the PR
they deserved.

Dark record???
Actually, most would agree that, aside from FITH, Deen's to vocal tracks were the only
bright spots on that album.

wah wah wah, go back to the other place if you don't like us here.

You're making quite the "first" impression on some of us here, I'm sure.

Stevie Awesome is NOT the only one that people took pot shots at in this band. Read a little more before you spew you shit.
