It's Scary To Think...

Postby Saint John » Fri Dec 22, 2006 7:28 am

just how good the band could be with JSS now getting the time he needs to get himself into "Journey mode." Let's not forget that he was thrown into this position on very, very short notice. I don't think that he ever really had the time mentally or physically to prepare for such an undertaking. And yet, we saw how well he could do on short notice. With that said, it's scary (actually, pretty fucking exciting!) to think what type of music, lyrics and melodies the Schon, Cain and Soto writing team can create with time. The best part about it is the TIME they're taking to let the creative process evolve. I, for one, am "jacked." Can't wait for the new shit, man. Take your time guys (but hurry up!!! :D ) and do it right, we'll still be here.

I know exactly what you're saying St John. I never thought I'd be this excited about Journey again and I'm lovin' it. :D

I think you are right. Has any great band every replaced their frontman mid tour without any rehearsal time? Not to mention these songs are some of the most difficult for anyone to sing! I think JSS did an absolutely A+++ job considering the circumstances. The future looks very bright to me based on his abilities under this kind of pressure. He didn't convey one ounce of uncertainty on stage. Just looked like he was having fun getting it together.

There will be so much pressure for the guys...They know that everyone expects them to do the Album of the Millenium, and that's what is actually scary.
It's such a psychological pressure, cuz they know that this time there is no excuse for them to be apathetic.

After quite a long period of creative drought,Journey struck oil again.I just hope they will be calm, cool and collected, isolate themselves from any outside disturbances and create by themselves. They don't need to hear anyone telling them what to do,just their own voices and creative instincts.

That's why true artists separate themselves from the noisy world,to be able to create something that would represent them completely.
Journey needs to be Journey again.
They have the chemistry, the motivation and now they have a powerful singer/songwriter.

And you are right,Saint John - the best part is they have a one year long writing session. :)

Guys, just turn off your cellphones, lock the doors and write your music. 8)

I think JSS is almost too manly to be singing lead for Journey.
