My Stance

Postby Schon Rules All » Fri Dec 22, 2006 1:14 pm

Hello....
I am here because I need to say something about all this. I may not have a 22000 post count or whatever it is, but I was born listening to Journey. I have every album, been to many concerts, and these recent events have made me wish I had a diffrent favorite band.
For starters, in this day and age, there is no reason in gods green earth that it should of took that long for such a short, open ended annoncement.

I get it, everyone thinks that JSS is the next best thing to sliced bread. I really don't see why, but I am not forcing my opinions on anyone. I think he is a good singer, but not Journey singer good. I mean step back and look at the past 30 years!!!! Tell me you think more of this then when you heard When You Love A Woman, after they were gone for the ten years, or you think that there is more magic there than the ending of the 2001 DVD with Augeri serenading the crowd, and them sereneding right back to him. Really??? I think that the band had left us with such a void after Raised on Radio, that now, anything seems better than nothing.

JSS... I don't know man. I have seen the boots, and read the reviews, and I am to be honest, really not impressed. But I will give you the same chance that I gave the man before you and go buy the next Journey release that comes out on CD. If I like it, I will go see you guys, if not, I will wait till the next singer comes around. Oh, and trust me there will be another singer.

Because everything that is bieng said about you right now, by EVERYONE around you, was bieng said eight years ago about Steve Augeri. When you guys dont hit #1, and Neal gets restless in a couple years, you know as well as I do that there gonna do what it takes to try to be that "household name" that he was talking about last year. And that means replacing you, because lets face facts, Neal, Ross and Jon are Journey. You, just like Steve Augeri, are expendable. I really do hope the best for you, and you seem like a cool guy, but buisness is buisness.

I really don't care either way. Steve Augeri WAS the singer of Journey for me. I always thought he was better than Perry, again, my opinion, but I did. I want that SOLO cd so bad. I want him to tour. I am just as excited about it as I am Neals new one. Steve, if you are reading this.... I DONT CARE IF YOU HAVE TO PUT A 2ND MORTGAGE ON YOUR HOUSE, MAKE THAT CD!!!!!!!!!! I dont give a crap who says what, you fronted Journey very successfully for 8 years, which was longer than perry. People kept coming, and coming, and coming to see you. We dranked, danced, and sang along, WITH YOU! I dont care who says what, you will do fine, and your CD is gonna be amazing, and IF you tour, please please please play the Arrival, Red 13, and Generations Material you did with the band. That music is yours, and nobody.... no where, can take that away from you... Just ask Steve Perry.

Neal, Jon, And Ross. What the h*ll? We have spent MILLIONS on you guys for 30 plus years. Are you gonna tell us you could not be more open and honest with us, after all these years of dedication, and calling into the radio stations, buying your merchandise, EVERYTHING we do for you. WE keep you in buisness. If it were not for us where would you be working? What would you be doing? Regular jobs, regular pay at a regular house.... that whole "statement" probably took a whole half hour to write, and your gonna tell us it took 4 plus months to come up with that??? Are we just a bunch of marks to you guys? Just a bunch of walking ticket stubs???? You need to start telling us what the heck is going on. We have been there for it ALL, we deserve to be in the know now. Suprises are fun and all, but so is knowing whats going on with your favorite band. Quite simply: QUIT PLAYING GAMES!

Deen.... Who doesnt love Deen Castronovo???? =) Just keep doing what ya do man.

Dude, "When You Love A Woman" is gay. (Sorry ladies)

"When a Woman goes to the Fridge To Get Me a Beer" would have worked!!!!!!!!! (Kidding, I get it)

The 2001 DVD is very "in the studio"

I want LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JSS can deliver.

I meant the concept of hearing Journey with perry again on the radio....

01 DVD is not "in the studio" You know that as well as I do. Man, I swear, how people turn there backs. I bet you raced down to get that DVD just as fast as I did. But now that you have joined the church of Soto, you cant look back without spitting on a legacy.

Yes it is.

Ever heard of "Pro tools"?

For the record, I thought Augeri was a nice replacement, until 03 or 04. I got the boots to prove he NEVER sounded like that 2001 DVD. FACT.

Hmmmmm been in the band longer than Perry? I tend to disagree. Perry joined in 78, he officially left in 98. Even during the time between ROR and TBF, he was still Journey's lead singer. True, he didn't sing anything with Journey during that time, but he was still officially Journey's lead singer. This is something I think is missed when people say that Augeri was in the band longer than Perry.

And Augeri didn't have the crueling tours Perry did either. He had it light. And really, 2 1/2 albums in 8 years compared to Perrys 8 albums in a space between 78 and 86?.......... You can't compare that. :D

2001 DVD audio is not real. Nothing any other band hasn't done with live CD/DVD's.

However most of them didn't fake it on the road - except maybe Leppard.

I didn't need to read anything else in ur post but this. This tells me u are delusional. U need to get ur ears checked buddy. Augeri wasn't even a hair on Perry's balls in comparison. U obviously haven't listened to as many boots as u should have.

BTW, nice username considering how u slam Neal.

Don't hold ur breath waiting for that solo CD.

Now I LOVE Classicrocklady.

I do think whatever Augeri had to bring to the table in 98 was blown out by excessive touring and age. (He is 47)

Perry had a more grueling schedule but he was much younger.

All brutal though, any way you slice it.

Bullshit. I have a boot of it BEFORE it was doctored in the studio. It sounds a lot different.

As for the legacy, Steve Perry created it along w/Neal, Ross, Jon & Smitty & before Jon, Gregg. Augeri just "covered" it. That's all. Jeff is as big a Journey fan as most of us. He will recreate the legacy & make his own too.

Exactly. These people should ask Augeri & his lawyer(s) why it took so long & why no one from the band said a word about Augeri's health. Obviously, Augeri had control over that. Isn't that like as plain as the nose on Perry's face! Or are u & I really that much smarter than these folks?

The band doesn't have to tell you anything about what is going on. That is their decision to make, a business decision. Leave it at that, because none of us will ever "know" what is going on. Just sit back and enjoy the music that is made. :D

I really want u to listen to this:

http://download.yousendit.com/53E1E41B71655B12

That's the boy u believe sings better than Perry singing Open Arms in 1999.

Those were supposedly Augeri's GOOD yrs. Tell me that is better than Perry? It's nothing more than BAD karaoke. In fact, I've heard the song sang better at a karaoke bar by an amateur.

Do u need me to post Perry singing it live in concert? Want the rest of that Augeri concert or others where he is equally as bad? I've got 'em. Just let me know.

The Augeri shit is a bit excessive. I still like Arrival to be honest. If he had faded away after blowing his voice out, he'd deserve better. However, he didn't so that will be his legacy.

Lets leave the fucker alone. He went through enough with the loons when he was pretty decent and still got roasted.

Soto is in, look to the future and not to the past. I got more tours where I can drink a bunch of beer and act like an asshole.

I call myself a JRNY fan. Yes I do.

Not a fan of TBF, most people here know that. We all have different tastes. I like Journey to ROCK.

WYLAW is contrived and sissified to me. When I love a woman I stick it where she wants it.

I want JRNY to appeal to men (not sissy men) as well as women. Soto will do that.

That's fine that you like that song. Many do, it's just not on my IPOD for a lot of reasons. I don't hate the song.
