Journey "Concept Album"

Postby ProgRocker53 » Sat Dec 23, 2006 3:52 pm

I think something ridiculously awesome that Journey could do to appeal to their more progressive-leaning fans is to release a concept album like Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, and Rush always do. Have a bunch of long, heavily-instrumental songs strung together into an epic storyline. I know they have the chops and ability to pull something like this off, and this could alienate some fans but at the same time bring some in.

I think it could gain them a lot of credibility among music nerds everywhere and have a little special something for the casual Journey fan. Even the greatest concept albums usually seem to manage to have a hit single here and there. I know I'd really like to see it, honestly.

Yeah, Neal only mentioned doing this, oh, about FOUR YEARS AGO, at least.

Well, I've only really been a Journey fan for a couple years now, so I think I must've missed that little update. Thank you for your kind reminder, buddy.

Neal should push the idea to do a concept album about the religious thoughts of clowns.

They could call it Soul Circus!

Then, we could all hear the whining when band breaks up..."I wanted to be in a rock band, not this!" "I couldn't write songs about clowns!" "We performed at this festival in Texas and followed Sammy Hagar and Ted Nugent and we were nearly booed off the stage!"
