I love TNC. Guy is honest as Rosies fork, and funnier than Rich Meyers saying yes to Tickner's cock.

I also love Susie. Fellas, I talk to her. She is really sweet and pretty damned smart too.

IMO, I would think OA is a tougher song than AWYWI to sing. However, I might have to say SW is tougher than OA. You need some lungage for that fucker.

I'll admit Steve Augeri didn't sound ( great ) But that's no reason to lynch the guy!
Don't blame him for perry leaving the band..
I'm happy for the 8 years he put in with Journey.
I just got a great dvd boot of Journey in Omaha NE 10-22-06 JSS sounded & performed great!dvd.

Dude, AR and I are responsibl;e for the Baltimore show. Have had it for 5 weeks.

Tell you what, I have Augeri DVD from Kelseyville and Oakland as well as Phoenix. I will give those to you for Omaha. I figure 1 JSS show equals 3 Augeris.

Dude pick me up tomorrow at I Street station and make the exchange. I happen to be on vacation, but have my DVDs with me. Come on Bro.

For the record, I love u too Dean baby. U are cool as shit & have a heart of gold. U have been an AWESOME friend to me lately especially. I think u are the shit. I don't understand why some don't get that. I also adore ur lady, Lula. She is really really cool. U are one lucky guy (no I'm not a lessie).

TNC cracks me up. Is he really mad at me or just doing a Christmas hazing? Not sure.

I don't know this for fact at all, but my guess is it was an internal effort to oust Augeri.
As a full fledged equal partner, Neal alone did not have the power to fire Steve.

Let me preface my comments by saying I am not, nor have I ever been a singer. That said, I think it's ridiculous to suggest that all ballads are easier to sing than up tempo songs. The reality is that some ballads are quite difficult to sing and have some soaring highs that few vocalists can touch. I never thought "Faithfully" was an overly difficult song to sing, but...then you get to the end of "Faithfully" and those highs become quite challenging. Ask Augeri...He never came close to pulling that song off!

Speaking in my official capacity as a guy who sings in the shower, you cannot control high notes nearly as well when singing at a fast pace.
There is a reason why in 2004, AWYWI used tapes while Augeri sang OA on his own.

Jeremy will vindicate me. That guy knows his shit.

Also, I work in a bar where we have 80s cover bands all the time. I have heard many bands pull off AWYWI really well nite after nite.

I’d imagine it’s pretty hard to catch flung rolled-up bills with your coot and focus intently to vocals at the same time.

"Faithfully" is really only hard to pull off at the end.
Like you said, that's when you have to wrangle with that high part.
AWYWI, on the other hand, is chord-searingly high pictched throughout its entiriety.

Jeff has a lot of trouble with it on the Reno show.

It happens. As a collector of bootlegs (the famous wall of DVD/CD's) I know pretty well that nobody's perfect. Perry and Jeff are damn close, but even they have had their moments.

The worst performance of a major band ever is a video I have of AC/DC from Detroit 1990 playing "Thunderstruck" It is so horrible, words can't even describe. Makes Augeri sound like Pavoratti.

in all fairness...

It was an early morning show, gotta be hard to sing that early. Does anyone know what time of year this was recorded? Winter, Summer? Cold weather could make it harder to sing.

Yes, DSB was bad vocally, but even on the clips that Andrew posted from San Bernadino JSS hits a few flat notes on DSB and IBAWY. It's live and not supposed to sound exactly like the CD. I do agree with another poster that this made me feel sorry for SA too. I just like the guy and he does have a good voice if he stays in his vocal range.

Neil and Ross look much better with shorter hair.

Also, the host of the show. Mark McEwen (also the host of A&E's "Live by Request"), left CBS and went to Orlando's local CBS affiliate as a morning/afternoon anchor. He recently had a near-fatal stroke - here is the story:

http://www.local6.com/video/10367652/index.html

*Edited to point out that the crowd seemed to be really enjoying the performance.

I'd been wondering what happened to him too. I never watched the Early Show very much but at the times that I saw him I liked him and really enjoyed him on Live By Request.

That is sad, I hope he is continuing his successful recovery, the business obviously just ignores these people. Local story, but was it ever a national headline?
