JSS Wins Either Way....

Even if this version of Journey with JSS doesn't live up to expectations, Jeff's other projects have gotten quite more attention than probably what they would've gotten if he hadn't joined Journey. That isn't to say those projects aren't high quality --- I LOVE his solo projects and Talisman stuff. But let's face it, the vast majority of fans out there will usually stick with more household name bands such as Journey or Boston, and never give guys like JSS a listen. Now that JSS is in Journey, I have noticed posts of fans wanting to do "research on Jeff" and they are discovering great music they would have otherwise never taken time out to listen to.

So, Jeff wins regardless as to how this version of Journey hits. :!:

greggie,, i have to say ,, i cant wait for his writing and singing on a journey album,, but ive got 4 new albums of his that ive been listening to for 6 months,, and really , some of it is better than journey stuff,, and i might not have ever discovered his tunes,, ive still got more to pick up as well,, jeff can write!! yea,, so even if something crazy happens and he is only on one journey album and the band breaks up... the fans still win!

That is why I feel he brings alot to Journey. Jeff knows how to write songs that are "Journey" type of songs. Even his heavier stuff, in my opinion, could fit with Journey. I also believe Jeff is joining at a time when music listeners could be more open to melodic rock music than what they might have been eight years ago.

JSS is an incredible talent. I am looking forward to hearing new music from Journey. I got to meet JSS in Columbia, SC on 11/2/06 and I was extremely impressed with him.

Which of JSS's prior works do you like the best, or think sounds most Journeyesque? I am trying to decide what to pick up first in my indoctrination into JSS's musical history. (Already have the old Yngwie stuff)
I have heard "Gods" DVD is good and was thinking of starting there. Interested in you opinion though.

well, id start with 2 ... essential ballads and talisman 7... great over all tunes,, a guitar player that can get after it too.. if you can find the entire humanimal cd.. thats just bad to the bone and wicked,,, better than soul sirkus,, and i liked soul sirkus!

I am certainly surprised I hadn't heard of JSS before Journey. I have collected alot of his previous work now. I think I prefer his solo work best.....and probably listen to Lost in The Translation cd more than than the others. I have Live at the Gods 2002 and the Queen 2003 dvd, which are both GREAT. I've just got the Talisman -World's Best Kept Secret dvd set and especially like the Talisman retrospective part.....since it's all new to me. :lol:

Some gals would have killed for Jeff's hair back in the "I'll Be Waiting" video. :shock:

A few of the Talisman songs are kinda heavy for me, but some I really like. I have to say I actually prefer JSS's version of Crazy to the original.
