Castles Burning

Listened to TBF last night and I will say this
what a great cd this is.

The best songs on this cd are by far Colors of The Spirit and Easy to Fall

With that said I think Soto should take a stab at Castles Burning

This tune rocks and hard.

Neal rips this sucker down.

One of the better songs from TBF. Could be a good song for JSS-ERIC

Oooone more cry in the night! (One moooooooooooo-oooooooooooore!)
Oooooone more, war left to fight! (One mooooooooo-oooooooooore!)

JSS should tackle that one.

Castles Burning could very well be Jeff's speed... extremely heavy. Excellent tune. The bg vox are incredible, too. Sounds different than any Jrny bg vox I've ever heard, I always wonder if there were some uncredited guests sing backup there. If it's Neal/Jon/Ross (with the requisite second Perry) that's pretty cool. Unless I'm totally wrong and it's the NoMoreTails special, the CHOIR OF PERRYS. Could be the Perry choir w/ the other band members, too....
Almosts sounds like Deen C's there (I know Smitty was the drummer at the time).

"Castles Burning" has always reminded me of "Life In The Fast Lane" for some reason.

Not a dig or anything, CB is awesome and I love it, I'm just saying.

I like LITFL too.

I'd love to hear Jeff do Castles Burning and One More. Especially One More. Powerful voice delivering powerful lyrics. Would have to be great.

I think Jeff would do well with CB or OM. I'm not going to harp on it because I know folks don't like it, but wouldn't mind hearing him do TBF. Also, still plugging for Kiss Me Softly. Woohoo!!

I've never been a big fan of "Castles Burning" but I love the live versions I've heard of it. It works much better in a live setting, in my opinion and I do think Jeff would be a great fit for that tune.

TBF was a pleasant surprise to me when it came out because I was expecting...no,dreading..another Raised On Radio clone. Songs such as Castles Burning,Message of Love,One More and Can't Tame the Lion helped give it a little more edge than ROR and helped me to forget about Randy and Mike...lol

I really think that JSS can do these and any of the many heavier songs in the catalog true justice with his vocal style and power.

Ya gotta love Easy To Fall. I too enjoy Colors of the Spirit (as well as Baby, I'm a Leavin' You), even though others criticize merely because it's a bit different from what they consider the normal "Journey style".

A couple others that I love from TBF that many disagree with are Still She Cries and the title track (Trial By Fire). Schon adds great guitar work on that one (Trial By Fire), especially for such a mellow tune, plus a great delivery by Perry.

I like Castles Burning (though it's not one of my faves on the album). That siren like guitar sound at the ending would sound good live.

Dude, you should have seen some of the video treatments I proposed for TBF.
Castle's Burning in particular could have been stupendous.

Still She Cries is a fantastic song
I Love It
So is When You Love A Women
TBF was a huge misop by Perry
This cd would have been huge if it was promoted
So many video ops and a tour that would have put JRNY on top again
Perry really fuked up on this one .

The album sucks. A few decent songs, and the standout MOL. Worse than ROR. Good riddance, Perry.

Can't Tame The Lion one of Neals best riffs on the cd and it sucks?
Castles Burnin Neal blazes the fuker and you think it sucks
I can See It In Your Eyes Neal is all over it and it sucks?

Don't flatter yourself. I didn't even notice you started the thread. Why don't you check out the thread where I listened to TBF again and graded each song and decided it sucks. I did it about a month ago. And ask anyone on here and they will tell you I have always hated TBF (except for MOL and ICSIIYE) and ROR.

Well, as I would sit in the control room as they wrote and rehearsed, I would do rough storyboards. And I mean RUFF as in dog like. seriously, any thoughts I had of me as a drawer of pictures were dispelled upon examining my handy work in the light of day.

As I was told then, I was way ahead of the curve in terms of product promotion. I was simply trying to "seed the field" as it were in order to get my ideas out there and on-board before the high priced talent swooped in.
As it turned out, it was all academic.

Anyway, think fast cuts, montage - stream of consciousness - concept related to the lyrics- kind of footage (all stock stuff, too btw  ) , B&W / sepia / Grainy / Stuck frame burning out / layered over the band in performance mode.
You know, sorta like a Nostradamus kind of dream sequence.

It is true.
NealIsGod tried to regift his Trial By Fire to me for Christmas this year.
I sent the damn thing back RETURN TO SENDER.

You stupid fools. Not one of you saw them with Perry did you? You have NO idea of which you speak. He was simply the best ever.
