Cool or Lame?

During a concert, Journey breaks out More Than A Feeling by Boston...

I would love to see Neal open with that guitar riff, and then scream the guitar in the bridge.

I think the crowd would eat it up! Soto would be great belting this song out as well, even if he couldn't totally hit those cosmic high notes.

So, am I a off, or do you like the idea?

Love the song Knox but wouldn't want Journey to do covers until the band has reestablished itself. I didn't have any problem with them doing covers for the ROR tour because I thought it was fun to hear and there was no doubt at that time that Journey was a musical force. If they did that now though, before they make a mark as Journey Reincarnated, I think it would make them seem like sort of a lounge act just out touring to entertain people.

I got the idea from watching JSS do covers on You Tube. He got a great reaction from doing a bit of Who's Crying Now.

I don't think one cover would mess them up, but I understand what you are saying.

To me, doing a cover is showing great respect to the artist you are covering, not taking anything away from your own music.

Ditch Open Arms, and put it in

I would love to see it only because I love the song, would love to hear Jeff sing it, but I think most Journey fans would say no.

nope, If I want a boston riff, I would want Tom doing it. Same as if Boston flirted with Stone in Love... I would go wtf...

Lame
Boston is Boston. Journey is Journey. Having said that, I did like when they did Reach Out by the Four Tops, but it fit with the Raised on Radio theme.

Cool. I'd like a 2-3 minute medley of artists in their genre. Say Foreigner, Toto, REO and one or two others. Play a medley of radio friendly hits from back in the day and the crowd would eat it up. Much moreso than say......Every Generation.

now i realize that this isn't the def lep site, but the rock of ages medley on the re-released hysteria album was excellent. they threw in some
covers with that performance and it rocked! but thats just IMO.

As good as Jeff is, I don't think he'd be able to do that song justice. Heck, even Brad Delp can't come close to hitting those stratospheric notes anymore (Fran Cosmo does, though...).
