I agree on alot of what you say. I think 'With Your love "is a great song though. As far as sins, not being able to sing like Steve P is not a sin, really, who in the fuck can? I like what Steve A did for Journey, Ive been to 19 concerts ,and had a ball. The lipping thing really happened and really sucked ,Big timeI thank Deano for proving that that bullshit really went on. I am keeping an open mind to see what will happen this year. By the way ,we need Deano and "the train back on this board asap"

Enigma: you're right, in hindsight I don't think you dislike the song just b/c of the singer.
I HAVE seen you give props to Augeri, most recently complimenting his cover of WYLAW....

I stand corrected, dude.

Right. Once the singer goes, Neal is left high and dry. Well, maybe not high.. It's funny when you hear him talk about the early days, early Journey, right after Santana. How he really wanted to be an experimental/fusion musician's band. Resisted the addition of a front-man (Rollie was good, but the singing on those first three albums was more of a garnish than anything). But then (in my opinion), his BEST guitar work is almost always the solo, or "outro" on a kick-ass vocal track. Exhibit A - Stone in Love.

"A Better Life" is therefore kind of anomoly for me. The singing is decent, the lyrics actually pretty heartfelt... But the whole mood of it is this kind of melancholy, very nuanced, very layered. Unusual for a Journey, song which let's face it are mostly pretty upfront/in your face.

It's one case where his guitar work perfectly matches the downbeat, almost contemplative tone.

Ha - so who's actually singing? If it's Augeri, then I gotta say _that_ at least allows him some dignity. (I'm too lazy to look for the CD at the moment..)

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ALBUM!

Enigma: Glad you posted what you did about Augeri to Red. I also somehow got the impression that you had the utmost disdain for Mr. Augeri, :?

Thanks for clarifying and ^5..

No problem, Liz :) I've been accused of hating Augeri, in the past, and always laugh everytime I see that. As I've said in the past, anyone can look through any post I've ever made on ANY Journey message board, and they will not find one single disparaging word about Steve Augeri, that could be attributed to me! My issue has ALWAYS been with his fans! Most of them act like they're 12 year old girls, in pre-pubescent heat, and I find it VERY distasteful! Also, VERY few Augeri fans I've ever come across EVER talk about the music. It's always about stupid shit like red leather pants and "wiggles"! My other issue with Augeri's fans has always been that many of them are VERY disrespectful to Steve Perry. I always found this to be quite interesting, considering their guy was making a living on Steve Perry's music! I will always be VERY annoyed that about 10 women were allowed to take over Journey's "official website", and turn the place into a complete waste of space, for sooooo many years!

I know I'm coming in way late in the thread to answer a question, but someone toward the start asked about Reno, and how dry it was. Reno is indeed a pretty dry climat as we only get about 7 inches of rain a year (about 18 centimeters for those not in the US). Also Reno sits at an elevation of 4400ft and have been enduring an unusual dry spell since about April to May. JSS mentioned coming from Boise as well. Boise is another somewhat dry climate, though not to the extent of Reno, getting only 12 to 13 inches of rain a year.

Just thought I'd chime in
