Happy To Give

Postby froy » Mon Jan 22, 2007 1:42 pm

What a great song this is

I was born a believer, played the fool
Lonely dreamer, left to choose
I dont know where the love is, theres a promise undone
Someones cryin, in a room all alone

Shadows fall, after the hurt is gone
Through it all, we love and we lose

Where is the one, someone who's happy
(happy to give)
Happy to be with you, ew oh
its here you belong, with someone who's happy
(happy to give)
Happy to give you love

A song for the singer, one book of dreams
Take this heartache, away from me
A page in a story, romance untold
Sharing secrets, we call, our own

Shadows fall, after the hurt is gone
Through it all, we love and we looose

Where is the one, someone whos happy
(happy to give)
Happy to be with you,ew oh
its where you belong, with someone Whos happy
(happy to give)
happy to give you love

Happy, happy, oh oh oh happy
(happy to give),

Oh somebodys happy to give you love,
Oh right yea ah ew oh oh oh oh yea

One of the few ROR songs I actually regularly listen to. A shame this one hasn't been played live by the "reunited" Journey. It'd be better than hearing "Open Arms" again.

So true. I think the collective Journey fans would love something like this classic song to be played instead of Open Arms, that song, while it is great, is freaking worn out.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Great song....GREAT song....KILLER album.

I adore Raised On Radio, which for you purists out there arguing about the current line-up - actually features LESS original Journey members than the CURRENT line up

Haha....just having a little fun with ya - but -

ROR (Perry, Schon, Cain / with RJ & MS)(Only Schon being an original)

2006 Line-Up (Schon, Cain, Valory / with DC & JSS)(Schon and Valory original members)

So - whadda think of THAT!!

No arguing here...wishful thinking, maybe, but no arguing. JSS is my second choice if my first choice were possible. Since it's not (somebody told me so  ), JSS is tha man!!!

How about this... ROR should not even be considered a Journey album. It is a Perry solo effort with help from Neal and Jon. It does not even resemble Journey.

Discuss.

Even the sound mirrors that of Street Talk....so you can definitely debate it's merits in the scheme of the band's catalogue, but I still dig it bigtime as a stand alone release.

It has the Journey name, it has Perry/Schon/Cain, and it sounds great, what's the problem? :P

That's fine. But you get what I mean, right Drew? When it came out, I was so disappointed. Felt like that was the end of the band.

Absolutely. It was an interesting period in the band's history. A real left-turn.

It was the perfect way to sign off. Much as I love a number of tracks on TBF I still feel that Journey came to its natural end in 1987. It's like the band have been driving with the handbrake on ever since.

Not a fan of the song, but the Castronovo-sung live rendition is superb.

ROR is an outstanding record, overall, though.

Anyone got a recording of that version?

Also - what was Schon's solo on it like? The absence of Schon on HTG is my only criticism of the song. Other than that though it was Perry's finest performance, I reckon.

Thanks Larry!

What a great solo from Schon! Imagine if this had been on the album....brilliant.

Deen though...well, I usually like his voice but his shortcomings compared to Perry are pretty exposed on this and there's a couple of painful moments. Not nearly as good as his version of Mother, Father. Maybe HTG is the hardest Journey song to pull off live?

There's an old interview I read, don't remember when or where, with Jon about that song. He said Perry was obsessed with it and spent hours and days perfecting it in the studio. I don't think he ever did it live, if so I've never heard of it. Maybe the vocal sound he got on the recording is just to hard to achieve live.
