Jeff talks about music. Can we do the same?

Postby Cougar1 » Mon Jan 29, 2007 12:54 am

Sadly,my good intentions started up a shitfest. :( Obviously there are a lot of negative feelings between the 2 Journey boards and that is sad too.I sure hope that at least now when Jeff himself is trying to draw fan's attention toward the real purpose of the band (making music, that is),people will bury the goddamned hatchet and enjoy the idea that Journey is working hard to come up with something that all of us will love.

So here we go again, another chance to talk about music! :P

JSS wrote:You'll get an earful soon enough of things we conjuring up, Neal & I came up with a few gems reminiscent to the Infinity & Evolution era, the guy has chords flowing out of him no other human possesses, what a joy to write Journey-style music with him..Soul SirkUS was intentionally trying not to be Journey which is the main argument of what people think Journey will become now. Trust the ones you have loved for 30+ years, they know what to do.

Any thoughts about what Jeff said?

Personally,I believe this sounds exciting as hell!

Exactly!!....and thanks for your efforts to keep it to the music and what the band are up to and posting the information....some of us do not go to other sites and read them...so thanks for the news.
...Cant wait to hear what they will come out with.
....Its all about the music, people!!

Just hearing that the band is psyched up again about writing and playing new music is good news to me. Then the thought of a powerhouse singer and frontman like Jeff performing it makes it exciting to me.

That would be nice. I love the sound from Infinity & Evolution - looking forward to hearing what Jeff mentioned... (btw, JSS stay here & post - that other place seems cannibalistic  )

LOL

I too am excited about the new music. Evolution is certainly a favorite. My faves might be- Infinity, Evolution, and Departure, but it is way too difficult to pick a favorite ;).

I think it would be cool if they did a new song or two that's representative of each of the eras of Journey. Like a retrospective in new music of the evolution of Journey's sound over the years.

Thanks for restarting the thread. :)
It's very interesting, to say the least...Seems like Journey wants to recapture a bit of the old glory which is fantastic.
I wonder if JSS will duet with Deen on a song,in the Perry/Rollie style from the era?
"Feeling That Way & "Anytime" are great tunes, perfectly written for two voices.
Now Journey has two power singers and that would give them the right "ammunition" to come up with such a song...I'd love it. :)

I don't know if that will neccessarily sound good.

FTW/Anytime had voices that were so different. Here with Jeff and Castro, there is not that much of a dichotomy.

Kinda agree.
Gimme 1 JSS/Cain, 1 Deen-only song and 8-10 Jeff-fronted tracks.

Oh and I think it would sound good to have Neal play guitar. :)

13, that sounds bout perfect! but would like about 15 new songs on that album...1 should sound like Believe in me...one should like Skin on Skin and one should sound like Mysterious...not exactly but with a middle rock beat..

It would be great if the new album will start off with a great rocker,a smoking opener just like in the good ole Journey traditional way...
Most of their albums were like that...just think AWYWI opening 'Departure' or Separate Ways opening 'Frontiers',think Higher Place on 'Arrival',etc.

I'd love to hear a power-song kickstarting the party. 8)
And I agree...Cain is not good enough to be co-lead vocalist.
However,JSS & Deen's voice mesh quite nicely as I imagine hearing them on a classic rock style song.

Preach it sister. I hope the whole album rocks. I'm not looking forward to many more power ballads or whatever they're called.

Seriously now,JSS is very good on ballads. He certainly has a soulful quality which has been a big part of Journey's sound.
The band can and needs to rock, but power-ballads are a must! After all, they pioneered them!

Yea, if they can make something as good as 'Believe In Me', and it looked like they were just having a blast doing that, then I think they are going to blow us away with this next album. I'm pretty excited about it.

Jeff is a creative writer, amazing singer and a very entertaining front man, Deen can kick the hell out of those drums and sing like Perry, Neal, well, he is just god, Jonathan with the writing and fingers on those ivories give me goose bumps, and Ross, hes one hell of a bass player and fun to watch. These guys are talented. I cant wait to hear what they are all writing. I have a feeling the general public (meaning not us abnormal journey freaks) will be blown away when they start gettin their tv appearances, new songs on the radio, ect. I'm excited as hell. And thank you for redoing this topic. Lock those that want to fight out! Lets keep it positive!

You relly think they would work in a duet? My opinion is there is not enough of a contrast, however, Soto can lower his range and get that bluesy feel.

It is sure nice to have the cards to play isn't?

I wish I had control of this band. It's like an all star band. So much talent.
