Anyway,for me,message boards and their residents are fascinating subjects.I've witnessed so many things online…
Maybe because psychology is an exam I have never flunked, I'm able to read between the lines pretty easily and I do have an idea about how Internet behavior works most of the times.

While I believe that Internet is not real life,I also believe that real life issues have a major say on how we act online.
Everyone knows that people say and do things in cyberspace that they wouldn't do or say in the real world.The virtual space has an immediate effect on people,as in making them losen up and express themselves more openly.
Some of these people really believe that their Net behavior cannot be linked to their real life…Yea,right.

I, for one though......am exactly the same person on or off the boards. Journey/Perry friends that I have met can attest to that. I am honest, caring, funny and a complete horndog in real life too. Anything I have ever said on the boards I would say to the person's face and have.

Me too. A little more shy at first sometimes, but once I get going I'm just the only me that I know.

I think I've analyzed my own attraction to messageboard involvement and come up with the answer. I quit working outside my home in 1993. My job afforded me a lot of interaction with people with whom I had a common interest. I did some travelling to all the corporation's subsidiary plants and also for various seminars and other company functions. Talking and exchanging opinions and ideas was part of my job. Now, living in a rural area that's an hour away from even a small to medium size city, the only convenient activities are church and Ruritan club oriented and they're just not my thing.

When I came on the internet in search of information about my favorite singer and band I found a lot of great people with whom to interact on a common interest, Journey.

So here I am and you guys just have to put up with me.

You see, I started at the bottom, worked my way up the ladder with hard work and good ideas, through the management changes, interacted creatively (song credits, producing, arranging), commercially (Nocturne Lighting device fabrication for U2, Michael Jackson etc), and socially ( kids births, marriages, divorces, Milestone Birthdays), through the glory years. These are events that are not likely to be repeated the the extent they were 25 years ago. No bitterness there....

I've built their studios. Then built a few more for other musos and producers.
I've engineered recording sessions with musicians whose songs I used to do air guitar to when I was 14. Can't be bitter about that.......

I presented my father with a Platinum JOURNEY record (GH , of course) with my name on it.
I have a MULTI PLATINUM disc set for NEW Journey material also with my name on it.
That's not likely to happen unless lightening strikes JSS into some new, hard ass material, that belies Journey's sappy image.

I lived a dream that many had, but only a few attained. I have the Credits, The Gold and Platinum Records and the t-shirts to prove it.
Oh, and the property, the boat, the Harley and the lifestyle, too.

You see, I started at the bottom, worked my way up the ladder with hard work and good ideas, through the management changes, interacted creatively (song credits, producing, arranging), commercially (Nocturne Lighting device fabrication for U2, Michael Jackson etc), and socially ( kids births, marriages, divorces, Milestone Birthdays), through the glory years. These are events that are not likely to be repeated the the extent they were 25 years ago. No bitterness there....

I've built their studios. Then built a few more for other musos and producers.
I've engineered recording sessions with musicians whose songs I used to do air guitar to when I was 14. Can't be bitter about that.......

I presented my father with a Platinum JOURNEY record (GH , of course) with my name on it.
I have a MULTI PLATINUM disc set for NEW Journey material also with my name on it.
That's not likely to happen unless lightening strikes JSS into some new, hard ass material, that belies Journey's sappy image.

Doesn't anyone else think that it's pretty darn low to say things like that about Neal on an internet message board? I cringed all the way through that post, so unnecessary... no Fred... your right. Just speaking for myself here, but my post above in support was not directed to the comments that he was making about Neal. It was just in support of his right to free speech...his right to his opinions without getting abused with a response to them. As far as any personal dirty laundry being aired about Neal and his personal life goes...I agree with you and dont feel like it should be made public...even if true....especially if it's talking about a friend or who once was a friend....that rubs me the wrong way also......but the other subject and his right to free speech still stands. Agreeing with one thing does not mean we agree with all and support everything that is said.

I agree and this is what can leave the disgruntled impression. The personal comments about Neal are wrong, imo. I imagine this helps keep the ego inflated and the ant-Journey folks bowing at his feet.

Yes, yes, TVL, I totally agree about free speech; I wasn't fussing at you. I understand what you are saying. Spilling stuff about Neal on the web just doesn't seem fair, I guess. He might even be exaggerating it, too, for all anyone knows. Distasteful, really, because once it's out there, there's no getting it back, you know?

I can certainly see why he quit posting and I don't see how Jeff can keep taking all the abuse he's been getting for no real reason. I can't even read all those negative posts at JR Forums(?)--they make me feel uneasy. He's a big boy, though, and can take it, I guess.
