Steve Perry: Canadian Interview.

Postby Clasicrockldy » Sat Feb 03, 2007 3:42 pm

Thanks to a very special someone here......... .... I have a copy of the Canadian interview that Steve Perry did for Much More Music during the FTLOSM tour.

What was interesting to me in the beginning of the interview, Steve said that he had written, recorded, and sold at the concerts a private collection of music that he wanted the fans to hear ! ( Yes, you read that right !)

Anyway............... did anyone who attended the FTLOSM shows ever purchased that particular cd? :?

It was two EPs Sallee and you probably have or have heard all of the songs on them. In fact, I think most of them have been put on the reissues of his solo CDs. The only thing that I can think of that wasn't is a shortened version of the Missing You writing session. I'll play them when I get time and make sure.

I have that interview somewhere on tape. Great interview, by the way.

SP made a point in saying that it takes him so long to write and record because it has to come from the heart. He doesn't just want to record if he has nothing to say.

The interviewer asks his opinion on Journey planning to reform without him (this was when they were contemplating a tour with Schon, Cain, Rollie, Valory, Smith and Kevin Chalfant). I don't remember SP's answer, though, but I think it was along the lines of "I guess they have to do what they have to do...".

I think it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if this reformation did take place and Perry stayed solo.
