Prince was awesome!....Man can he play...one of the guitar greats. Not just sticking to his own extensive catalog but throwing in some Proud Mary, All Along The Watchtower and The Best Of Me, Foo fighters. I have seen him in concert and he puts on a great show. Great talent and that was a great halftime show. We here thought we heard a few notes of Open Arms at the very start of Purple Rain???....did anyone else?....maybe we were mistaken and the beginning of both songs are similar notes....wish I had taped it to play back and see. 8)

PRINCE was amazing!! that was the best half time show i can remember seeing,, last years was a bit of a let down .. some of the years before they were taped music.. he played 3 different guitars,, i would have hated being the sound engineers for that show.. in the rain,, different wet instruments ... AND them girls didnt fall down ,, i was nervous for them the entire 8 min...!!!

It was a great performance!! The jury is still out on whether it was really "live" or not....

His performance was freakin' awesome! I've always liked his music. Loved how the stage was in the shape of his symbol too. I was waiting for one of the dancers to bust her ass though...that stage looked slick as ice from the rain. He's definitely one hell of a musician and performer.

I've never cared much for Prince's music so I didn't pay a lot of attention to the show. I heard some while I cleaned up the kitchen and it sounded OK.

That had to be the "classiest" half-time show in a looonnnnnngggggg time.
The last few years I'd get 2 minutes into them and turn the channel.

I hope the "powers that be" buy a clue give us more shows like this one!

I was hoping for a few more of Prince's own hits, but I liked the medley - he paid tribute to several great artists. He got a little controversy into the show with the guitar play behind the curtain. Classic Prince - get a stroking into the show. He looks great and is a great performer.

Purple reign!

Absolutely SOLID. We had a PRINCE thread here last year where several questioned his genius. Well, I think yesterday answered that.

Prince is a friggin' wack job...

However, he's also a musical genius. I think his half time show was second only to U2s and just above Sir Paul's (bear in mind, I'm a huge Beatles freak!). Aerosmith's show sucked and was embarrassing. Timberlake's, um, yeah, whatever...

I thought Prince was awesome. One of THE most underrated guitarists ever. Killer guitar player!!!

My one regret with Prince is that when he did that whole "Change my name" thing, He should've thrown out a lot of the baggage that went with his image too and take the opportunity to reinvent himself. Toss the whole "which gender am I?" thing.

That guy's a seriuosly friggin great musician.

Did you ever see when he came out and played "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the rock and roll hall of fame? The band's playing the song, he walks out during the solo and absolutely friggin' WAILS on the guitar. Solo's done, he walks off and leaves the building. The guy had 'supposedly' never heard the song before (I find that hard to believe) but he just killed on it.

Awesome.

oh hes heard that song before,, you dont get as good as he is by not practicing for hours on end in you bedroom,, playing scales and learning other peoples licks... he was raised around jazz musicians, i would bet you that by age 10 he was in his room playing along with clapton, hendrix , stones, and the beatles... drums, guitar , piano, and all the other instuments he can play...

at the superbowl , did you notice that his strat matched the color of his suit,, now,, that is pretty cool...

Maybe he'd heard it (that's why I used the quotes)- but the notes were NOTHING like Clapton's lead in the song, but still rocked. It was actually a better solo than the one Eric played on the White Album.

What's the deal with Prince not aging??? HOLY CRAP. He's like a robot or something. The guy NEVER looks a day older than he did in 1983. That is SO weird. Dorian Grey has NOTHING on Prince.
