Loved his guitar tones, glad the
studio fucks really brought it up in the mix!
And who cares what he played???
At least it was LIVE!
BTW, anyone else hear about how the
usual conservative, churchy folks are upset
with Prince's one guitar move, a signature move at that,
where it's basically a "Jack-Off" of the neck???
GIVE ME A FUCKIN' BREAK!
He's been doing that move forever.
Stupid fucks are comparing that to Janet's
40 year-old titty floppin' out.
Some people...

guitar great? mmmmm, no.
performer, sure i guess so.
but his songs just suck (can I say that?) I'm sorry Except Purple Rain and I'd rather hear Soto do it.
Have you seen him in concert??.....and Calittos right....ask other musicians.....ask Schon..what they think of his guitar skills...they will tell you how great he is......and ask Soto.....why do you think he covered Purple Rain??.....given the man his props because he respects great talent!rap_still_sucks wrote:Ok, so you duped me.... you did mean this, right?

He's one of those "once in a lifetime" legends that you should just consider yourself lucky to have witnessed. He's our generation's James Brown, I guess you'd say. I know I've admired him since i was a little kid.
I seem to recall a story about Prince calling Jonathan re: the Purple Rain outro chord progression. It had an uncanny resemblance to "Faithfully" and he apparently called to say "Forgive me, I've made a mistake". Can anyone back me up on this?

I'm a Prince loon.
so you dont like him...thats cool, thats your opinion...just saying ...he is very highly reguarded by other musicians....and have you seen some of those jam videos where he plays?....like Carlitto said....he smokes everyone else. I have all his cd's and have followed his career since 83......while many of his songs are very sexual, there are many that are spiritual.....and he is definitely heterosexual....he is just a very passionate person and artist and freely expresses it in his music. In his symbol, his look and his manner he makes a statement that he is aware that we all have 2 sides and that men also have a female side and that he is in touch with his and embraces it...but he's not a homosexual. He also doesnt show off his guitar skills to a full extent and record jams or too many solo stretchs...I dont think he cares that much about it and doesnt try to show off. ....just wants to make the kind of music he wants to make and help others out along the way and give back. Not saying you have to like him...you dont.....but he is a musical genuis and the definition of an artist.rap_still_sucks wrote:TVL wrote:Have you seen him in concert??.....and Calittos right....ask other musicians.....ask Schon..what they think of his guitar skills...they will tell you how great he is......and ask Soto.....why do you think he covered Purple Rain??.....given the man his props because he respects great talent!rap_still_sucks wrote:Ok, so you duped me.... you did mean this, right?

Oh, I must have been mistaken...if Schon says he's great (did he?) I must like him.He has written some goods songs, but why doesn't he keep any good ones for himself? He is talented, I don't dispute it. I just won't put him on the same list as Schon for an axeman, and he is an energetic performer, but the homoerotic stuff doesnt float my boat.
PS. Why would I see him in concert when I hate his songs????![]()

Quote from Neal in the July 2000 UK edition of Classic Rock, regarding Faithfully:
“It’s funny, that song has often been compared to Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ and it even went so far as someone from his camp calling our management to find out if we were gonna sue him!"
