Ok Jeff, BIG REQUEST...

Postby Carlitto H@kk » Wed Feb 07, 2007 1:07 pm

Well, you know I'm going back to "The Box"
in July/August and got to thinking...
Especially after the other thread in here on Iraq

I started wondering "What cool celebrities might
show up for next year's USO tours?"
I mean, last time I was there, i got to meet Robin Williams, Wayne Newton,
Diamond Dallas Paige, Rod Dibble, John Elway The WWE...

You know, sometime between August and December
would be a REALLY cool time for you guys to consider
doing a USO tour :) Honestly, the troops would fucking LOVE
you guys! And it'd be the highlight of my trip too!
Remember, LSA ANACONDA, BALAD, IRAQ is
where ya wanna stay.

I could finally give you that "up-close-and-personal"
tour of the jets I tried to talk you into this past summer :)

And I even posted the USO link for you, the band and Management
to check out.

http://uso.org/howtohelp/celebritytouring/performancetours/

Come on, Jeff...
Don't make me beg :D

But seriously, do you think you, the band or Management
would ever consider something like this?

Just down from the mountain skiing the past days...Carl, you're damned straight I will look into it, Journey personifies the American spirit so I agree, it would be an amazing idea to do this....no promises but I will initiate it when I see the guys next. BTW, congrats on the new little rugrat!!!

I do hope it can happen, Carl. I really do. The troops over there sure do need some entertainment.

Jeff, if you can make this happen, don't forget to film it ! It would be awesome to see Journey do a concert for the troops ! What a dvd that would make ! :D

Definitely...concert, dvd, portion of the proceeds going to a fallen soldier/family charity of some sort.

They'd HAVE to play OOHW though...wonder how they feel about doing the Augeri tracks now...actually, that's another thread.

I really hope you guys can get there Jeff!!! I just recently saw an interview with Kevin Butler (former Chicago Bear kicker on the '85 superbowl team), and he and Jim McMahon just did a USO stint in Iraq. He said it was a life-changing experience for him. If you can't get there, it would be wonderful if you could do some sort of benefit for military families. I used to teach in a community that had students living in base housing at Great Lakes Naval Training Station here in Illinois, and those families didn't have an extra 2 cents to rub together. It's heartbreaking to see how much our military sacrifices to protect us.

**************

That would be so great if it can happen - they, more than anyone need to "feel" & "hear" the hope that is so strong in Journey's music. Keeping fingers crossed! :)

Hell yeah, they have to play that song!! :D It would mean a lot to the troops.

IF this would happen, and I say if...
(Sorry I put you on the spot in here, Jeff. maybe shoulda PM'ed ya)
It could be a HUGE boost for their fan base.
Yes, they will get press and it would REALLY mean alot to the troops.
But more importantly from a PR perspective, they would reach an enormous
collection of the record-buying public that they normally wouldn't.
Just the fact that they 'visited' the area would have military personnel
world-wide showing interest in the band.
These tours get press in all the military publications and,
you know how some of us military pukes can be,
"You do something for us, we're gonna be behind you all the way."

I'm not holding my breath. I know things like this are complicated.
But a boy can dream can't he?

PS Like I said earlier...

Neal fucking shreds the SSB and they throw in OOHW, with a quick intro
as to what the song is about...
They would get a response like none they've seen in
a long time, is my guess :)

Hey, Jeff read it and responded with some kind words.
If Jeff tells me he'll propose it, I believe him.
Dude's straight-up THE definition of Genuine Class-Act.
If it doesn't pan out, it doesn't pan out.
