American Idol...a "sort of Perry" type

Postby perryfaithful » Thu Feb 08, 2007 10:58 am

from Paula Abdul

"I like to see the fact that they are solid in knowing who they are," she says.

"They usually know that they're talented, but I like it when there's not a sense of insecurity - they just go out there and do it.

"There's a guy who's got that, he's sort of like [Journey's lead singer] Steve Perry, and a girl who's got it.

Paula says...

""There's a guy who's got that, he's sort of like
[Journey's lead singer] Steve Perry, and a girl who's got it."

Now there was a guy that did OA but he was no Perry.
Interesting...

So, who wants to start a pool on how many
replies it takes before WyngDynger states
that the "girl" Paula is speaking of
MUST be his beloved Perla?

You know, when I heard this "Little Rueben" singing that
I thought to myself...

How absolutely cool would it be to hear Perry,
with his lower tenor these days, re-recording that tune???
It would probably sound AMAZING :)

I remember when that guy tried out for AI. I told my husband that he was the new American Idol. I thought he was really good. No Steve Perry, of course, but he was good.

I remember that guy started out singing "Another Saturday Night," and then went into "Cupid," and wondering if there was another version some other group recorded that put those two songs together (like the Spinners version from the 70's), or if he just put the 2 songs together.

Good voice, but I remember 2 years ago being blown away in auditions by some guy with dreads singing "A Change is Gonna Come," but then after Hollywood, he was sent packing.

That chick last night, Tami with the lip ring...
Me and My 6 yo daughter really dug her.
I think she'll at least be in the top-12.

I think she sounded really good and seemed to have a lot of confidence. I hope they make her lose the lip ring though. :?

Honestly, Perla was too nervous to have been the one Paula was talking about.

One point that we all seem to have overlooked in Paula's statement is that it indicates that Perry's voice does seem to represent a certain standard.
