Rather than "embracing" anyone, we should make sure that they a) enter the country legally b) speak the language c) realize that soccer is NOT a sport. To quote Mike Ditka, "If God wanted us to play soccer he wouldn't have given us arms." And if "Latino culture" is such a good thing, how come all of their country's are absolute shitholes? The "melting pot" hath runneth over.

PS Raising 5-8 kids on welfare is probably not a good idea, either.

That's a truly ignorant and defamatory remark. You really have no idea what you're talking about.

Hey Wyngzy, Do you even know if
Perla has got her Green Card yet????

If this chick was NOT Columbian I doubt you would have even noticed her. What is your fetish with everything Latin? It's cool....to a point, but you're starting to scare me. They (Columbians) should stick to coffee and cocaine because this chick isn't going anywhere. But I've been wrong before (once I think).

It's ColOmbia - with an "O".

The ignorance that you continue to barf up is what's truly scary. I don't know if John is your real name but it's mine. When I was a kid I thought it was a rather plain name. It'a used to describe a toilet; a man seeking a prostitute; and any unidentified dead body. Then one Christmas my Grandmother gave me a bookmark printed with "John" and its definition. It's Hebrew for "God is gracious." I then recognized that I now had something to live up to.

I am glad a Colombiana is represented. A friend of mine just went there, and a few years ago a friend from the USA, where I'm from, moved there...Iv'e heard nothing but positive reports from both. The country is on the upswing with the fabulous President Uribe in charge. Yes it is still dangerous in places with the Civil War ongoing in the remote regions, but a visit to places like Bogota is probably no more dangerous at this point than living in LA. My friend who just got back tells me the people are well educated, polite and very beautiful. I started falling in love with that place when the breathtaking scenery of Pasion De Gavilanes blew me away night after night for 13 months. Oh and of course the women are completely and totally smoking hot!!! I have enjoyed meeting some of my favorite actresses from there like Paola Rey and getting to become an acquaintance of Catherine Siachoque, who I have had the priviledge of speaking with on the phone and getting invited to her last novela's premiere.
It's definitely on my list of places to visit someday. I have been so busy I missed the girl on AI so I will have to check her out later.

As of the most recent data, 2005, 49.2 percent of Colombians lived BELOW the poverty line. By the way, the poverty line was earnings of roughly $1 per day. I think I'll stay here.

Continued ignorance.

Colombia is NOT an industrialized nation like America. It's primarily agrarian therefore comparing the two according to the American dollar is entirely IGNORANT. $1 equals about 2.5 pesos. In America you can't buy much for $1 but in Colombia you can buy a lot more for 2.5 pesos.

My in-laws live on the side of a mountain in the middle of nowhere just near a small village called Samaria. They live in bamboo houses and grow coffe and sugar cane. For as much as Americans spend on coffee you'd think they'd be wealthy! They're anything but. They work hard and earn pennies for their coffee. They never had a telephone until recently as it was too expensive to run a line up and down the mountain. Also, drug lords like to cut the lines in order to terrorize people. They have running water but don't use hot water tanks. They have toilets but can't afford the luxury of toilet seats. They have electricity however the way they wire it would never pass code here in America. Some have electric ranges while others still use fire to cook.

Despite these conditions my family is content. That's their culture. While Americans live for the pursuit of happiness and compile capital gains my family simply seeks being content. They don't ask the typical, "How ya doin'?" They ask, "Contento?"

Try to get out more. You're clearly so caught up in your own little world that you can't see the larger more encompassing one that's all around you.

Great points - particularly about the recent presidential change. I would only caution that Colombia is no different than any other country when it comes to levels of education in regards to geographical location. My wife comes from an isolated area outside of Manizales. She has a 5th grade education as do most of my in-laws simply because the 5th grade is the highest level of education available to them in their immediate area. I have one brother-in-law who is illiterate and can only write his name. He has no desire to improve his education as his lot in life is to simply grow and harvest coffee and sugar cane. He's busy enough with that and doesn't see that an education would be of any immediate benefit to him. While this is perhaps shocking to the American standard of living we have to recognize that illiteracy is an American problem, too! In fact it's a GLOBAL problem.

Thank you for your thoughts. Your admission that the place IS a shithole was all that I wanted to hear. Now I see why people are dying to get into our country. I wish your family nothing but the best. I certainly wasn't implying that I don't. I just don't see your need to promote everything "Latin." I think I echo the sentiments of a lot of people when I say "Quit jamming that shit down our throats." This is a Journey board (mostly). Not a"Latin Pride" or "All Things Latin" board.

The only thing you echo is the ignorance inside your own head.

I didn't admit that Colombia is a shithole. That's YOUR perception. Many people around the world view America as a shithole. It's all relative. The grass is always greener/browner on the other side.

Why did my wife want to come here? NOT because Colombia is a shithole. She LOVES her country and misses it and her family dearly. Can you even begin to comprehend that? That she misses her country despite that it's a "shithole".

My family doesn't need your wishes. See how you think that your life is so much greater than theirs. You just don't get it. You may never get it. Just because people and/or a culture doesn't measure up to YOUR standards doesn't mean that you're any better off or that they need wishes from you.

Nobody is jamming any "shit" down anybody's throat here. You do NOT have to read or respond to my posts. So buzz off and go spread your ignoarnce somewhere else. Yes - this is a JOURNEY forum - so why aren't you crying about all of the OT stuff?

Lastly, I believe in a Latin rhythm JOURNEY project and I'll continue to talk about it as long as I believe.

People here had strong beliefs regarding Tapegate. So strong that change was affected. I suppose I have my own beliefs. I wouldn't say that I'm trying to affect change however my intentions are to simply explore a possibility.

We all need new frontiers.

I too 'believe' in a Latin type Journey project. After Generations could it get much worse??

It took Generations three plus months before it found the city landfill.

A Latin flavor Journey project would definately reach our landfill quicker.

Then again Journey has never written or sung songs about drug warlords.

That may be interesting!!

Anybody out there heard REO'S regae version of Keep On Loving You?? How about Journeys Latin influenced Baby I'm A Leavin You???

NASCAR is about to 'fyre' up and
over the next 9 months I am
sure it will get jammed down our
throats how this young man is going
to be the greatest driver of all time!
AND HE'S FROM THE COFFEE-BEAN MECCA!!!

These are the ramblings of anything but a JOURNEY fan.

The formula for JOURNEY's success has always been to seek new frontiers. Generations failed because it didn't seek any clear frontier.

What are YOUR ideas for success? To come in here and smash others who actually have some?

Speak up. I'm listening. What are YOUR ideas?

Generations + Tapegate should of equaled The End Of Journey. They lost me and will probably never get me back.

I had no problem with Steve A, Arrival or Red 13. But if you mix in a Latin Flavored Journey CD add to it Generations and Tapegate and It will be OVER. The name damn near got destroyed. This would be the knockout punch. Or should I say Uzi blast.

Thank god someone(Andrew) recognized the brilliance of JSS. But neither he nor Steve Perry could survive a Latin Flavored Album.

My ideas for success would be let JSS take the lead. Mix in a few Deen vocals, and compliment it with Neals great guitar work and Jonathans writing.

On a thirteen song new disc JSS sings lead on 10 or 11 with Deen the remaining 2. 2 ballads, 3 mid tempo songs & the rest rockers. If anyone mentioned Latin flavor they are fired immediately. If anyone hands Jonathan, Neal or Ross a microphone to sing lead they are also fired.

Now THAT sounds like a winning formula!

Fyre is all about the latino connection, his first order of business is to introduce a new product for children

Finally! Posting something of your unique qualities.

The only problem with it is that picante food is a stereotype of the Latin community. My wife NEVER had spicy food until she came to America. Colombian food from her region is what I would describe as "earthy" in flavor.

Hate, Fyre? Bullshit. Not hate, only amusement. And as usual, you can be counted on to play the victim. Oops, I forgot - anyone who disagrees with you is mongering hate or intolerance or etc. etc. etc. (yawn)

It seems to me that you're confusing hate mongering with amusement. Let's map this out.

You respond to a post that had NOTHING to do with racism: "LOL, Yogi. I'm surprised Fyre hasn't pulled out the "race" card and thrown it on the table in this thread. On another forum a poster was accused of being a racist simply by saying that Perla reminded him/her of Charo! Whazzup, Fyre? Lose your deck of "race" cards?"

You brought this up OUT OF THE BLUE solely to monger hate.
