The Animal...Steve Smith!

Postby Art Vandelay » Fri Feb 09, 2007 12:31 pm

Check out this footage of Steve Smith on youtube, from his instructional video.

Dude's a total monster on the set! No doubt he made the better choice, leaving Journey to expand on his own jazz/fusion career.

If you ever have the opportunity to see him live with Vital Information, do so. Saw them twice and am seeing them again this spring. Some of the best musicians in the world.

He was great with Journey, but this is where he is in his element.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Steve is operating on a whole other level than most drummers. His understanding of groove, time and rhythm are exceptional. One of the very best!

Agreed. I bought both his DVD's and they are great. Were you able to make it to the Hollywood WOF show? The dude was fucking even more amazing than I ever remembered live!

It's swing pulse...a rhythmic measurement that drummers use.
