OT: How important are your favorite TV shows?

Postby Carlitto H@kk » Tue Feb 13, 2007 2:16 pm

You know, I am a bit pissed off right now.
It appears there was a shooting at a mall in SLC
earlier this evening. ALL the local networks have been
airing thier "Breaking News" stories that are basically
the same looped video and same 'speculation' over and over
again because no one has any real info yet. And all the while,
networks like NBC have kept viewers from watching favorite shows
like Deal Or No Deal and Heroes. Now, I could care less about DOND
but I've been waiting all week for this episode of Heroes only to find out
that, when I get home tonight and try to watch it on my DVR, the first 40 minutes
will be nothing but the mundane reporting of this unfortunate event.
At least I'm not alone though.
Here are some comments from the local NBC's website on this topic...

"Thanks for ruining Heros for us you morons. Yeah, thats smart, lets cover a story that we have no information about by cancelling the showing of our best show. Lets repeat over and over again the same nothingness we have. How about interrupt the commercials instead, oh yeah, that would cost you money....At least Fox 13 understood and made sure 24 rolled anyways with a message on top about the story. Good thinking there, not!!!"

"You as KSL and other news media do not need to spend an hour and a half repeating what little you know. Gather your facts and then give your views brief summery segmented. I don't watch the news because I don't want here it. But you ruined my evening by not allowing me to watch my normal shows when I have limited free time as it is."

"The coverage is the worst! The reporter won't stop talking in circles. It's an insult to my intelligence to watch. Please save the coverage for when you have actual information."

And then you have the Worry-Mongers...

"You Stupid People!!! You would rather watch a TV program then worry about the people in that mall! for all that you know one of your family members of friends are in that mall and all you care about is your dang TV...GET A LIFE!!! I am scared every time something like this happens!!! One of my friends lives so close that she could see what's happening...and thats scares me to death!!! and all of you stupid people care about is heroes or 24 or some other stupid programs that you watch probably every time it comes on. That really makes me think what this world is coming to..."

" work at Trolley Square Mall, I have coworkers who are there and I am conserned for their safety. I think that all of you people that are missing you TV shows, need to understand that people are Dead. And all you are conserned about your tv shows. Be glad that you were not there and shot to death.

The funny thing is, I can actually picture
some Journey-Forum-Of-Your-Choice
members posting this kinda stuff :D

Anyhow, would this piss you off or am I
the only fool that LOVES his primetime TV shows???

Good thing this didn't happen on Tuesday...
No AI or House???
Oh Shit, there'd be a riot :D
Welcome to Terminus... You hungry?

That worry-monger sounds just like one of our very own MSM's, just need to add something like this-----you people act like children, why dont you go out and do something good for this world .

Take me for instance, i woke up this morning and ran 26.2 miles then i went to my neighbors and painted their house, after this i got in my row boat and went down the river about 20 miles and found a penguin stuck in an oil slick , i just happened to have some Dawn dish detergent with me and washed the oil off of him , i guess you could say i saved that penguins life.

Now i'm going to eat lunch and after that, i'm going down to the bus stop where all the hobos are--, going to make sure each of them gets a 1/5th of brandy , its going to be cold tonight. Why can't you people be more like me.

I understand your pain. I don't watch TV often with the exception of Thursday nights I want to watch Grey's Anatomy. I don't get home until 8:00 (when it starts), this is also the time my children need to be getting ready for bed. I had to choose between beating my children so I can watch Dr. McDreamy or turning off the TV and peacefully getting my children into bed. Now if you don't follow this show--it was the first of a three part spell binding series that I would have missed. Being the good mother that I am I turned the TV off. Now I have to figure out how to watch the episode that I missed. I think I'll have to pay iTunes $2 for the episode because no one knows how to burn a CD from their DVRs. Come on people, don't you know how important this is?? I'll admit it--I don't have a life. :D

Carl, I do feel for you. I lived in Ogden for three years, and the tv programming there drove me nuts ! I couldn't afford cable at the time, so all I had was over the air channels. And sometimes, if the series, or program was a bit controversial, it wasn't shown. I know the state is the heart of the Mormon religon, and I am a Jack Mormon ( I smoke and have a tattoo!), and they have to keep a lid on anything controversial. I remember listening to a rock station and they edited out the word "shit" from the Pink Floyd song "Money".

However, having cable here, and watching the networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, FOX) when there is a program I want to watch, and it is interrupted by a big news story, I get cranky. I do have to have my court show fixes ! And they show the same old shit over and over until they get something new, or, they will go to the programming and interrupt again if they get something new.

But......... most of my nighttime viewing of tv is on other cable channels like Animal Planet, TNT, Sci-Fi, etc. It is very rare that I watch the major networks at night. Sundays I do watch Ty Pennington build a house in a week, and House on Tuesdays, and maybe ER if I remember it is on Thursdays. :D

Have you ever thought about transferring from Utah to say, California? Just a thought..... Beale Air Force Base is just down the road from me

I just heard a news blurb about the SLC Mall shooting out here on my local ABC station.

I am sorry to hear that innocent people lost their lives, but also the shooter did too. I will check my local 10:00 news to see if anything pops up there.

should we make better use of ourselves by pasting other peoples heads on a frog or a chicken? is that still funny? can we not move on?

My prime time shows are very important to me....so call me any names you want....I agree with Carl..I get very pissy when thaey put that type of shit on instead of Grey's anatomy, AI, House...especially when they keep repeating the same trash for hours and have no NEW news to report...
a quick flash would be OK just to keep us updated....

Any know how I can find the first episode of that 3 parter...we were in Fla. when the first episode aired????
