Just checked it out on youtube

gotta say it was a great performance..... ok Sting was singing a lower harmony on the chorus...but hey..... better that than making a complete turd of himself and the band by attempting the high part. It still sounded tight... and Copeland is still one of the best rock drummers around....a technical genius!!

Personally..I loved the "jam" session in the middle..... just saw some footage on UK ITV news of them doin a couple other songs at a recent gig...so they have trodden the boards before the grammys it seems....

For me...Sting has not written a decent tune since he disbanded the Police (well...ok....maybe a couple.... but thats all) maybe they will do some new material....lets hope so!

No, what you probably saw was footage from today's post-Grammy event at the Whisky in Los Angeles, which is where they made the official tour announcement.

Anyone can watch it at http://www.thepolicerehearsals.com ...

Actually......

Special guest Fiction Plane will join The Police for the North American portion of the tour. Known for their high-energy live shows, this dynamic rock trio will be releasing their 2nd full length album in May. Fiction Plane are: Joe Sumner (Bass) ; Seton Daunt (Guitar); Pete Wilhoit (Drums). Additional support artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

Joe Sumner is Sting's son. :P

So am I Nig. Now they just have to get within driving distance for me to go

Yes, great that The Police is back, even if it's only for a short while.

They made wonderful music back in their day. They are in fact coming to Scandinavia as well, I am hoping to land a ticket although that might be difficult when you aren't willing to camp out for days in front of the box office :)

I like The Police, but am not the least bit interested in seeing them live. I wonder how many of Sting's solo songs he will insist on subjecting the audience to?

Ticket Prices at Madison Square Garden - $254, $92, & $54

From experience, there are not many $54 seats and those will be shitty/obstructed. $92 is all upper level stuff and anything decent is the top dollar seat.

No thanks - I'll pass.

I must say that I am as much interested in seeing Sting play as The Police themselves, as I have seen neither. I actually like much of Sting's solo stuff, although it's not as good as The Police. I think my favourite Police song is Message In A Bottle, mostly because of the lyrics...My favourite Sting solo song is probably Seven Days.

Zero. All Police; no solo Sting or songs by any other artist, for that matter. Point was clearly made during the press conference.
