Sunstorm (New Joe Lynn Turner Release)

Postby tcav34 » Wed Oct 04, 2006 10:02 am

I think this is a fantastic album, lots of melody and hooks...I have always been a JLT fan, but it was nice to hear him recapture some of the old magic from the AOR days. His voice has changed a bit over the years, but there is no mistaking that the man can still sing great. Andrew gave the album a 95% and and stated that it is his favorite JLT album to date. I still think his absolute best vocal ever was with Yngwie on Oddessy, but this album is right up there.

If you haven't given it a listen, do yourself a favor and try it out, you will not be dissappointed.

Anyone want to post a review of this album? Has anyone seen JLT perform live lately? Is the Sunstorm album a one off project, or are there any plans to tour? Just looking for any info on the subject.

From what I've read, Sunstorm is actually a selection of unreleased 80's AOR songs, rerecorded and then sung by Joe Lynn Turner. The intention was to capture the AOR magic of his first solo album. Of course, that's easy to do when you are using songs that were written in the 80's.

Joe said on his myspace page that if sales of the Sunstorm project are good enough that he would do another similar album. I'll have to try to find you the evidence for my claim. The album is fantastic. There are some really great tracks.

Here is the evidence from a blog dated June 29, 2006:

The resulting album is a monster piece of classic AOR the way it
should be and sound in 2006, but with the class and the fascination of the 80's! Turner says: "There are plenty of other songs from that era that I believe should be heard..maybe someday. The doors to the SUNSTORM chapter II are opened from now, it will be up to the fans to decide whether they will want it to happen!"
