In another thread, I opined:

stabbim wrote:What he <DLR> needs to bring, besides his A Game vocally, is just a tad of humility to go with the Mr Excitement persona. Show some gratitude. Show some sincerity. Make this thing real, beyond the attempted time-warp. IMO.

From the front page:

David Lee Roth wrote:My voice is arguably better than it was when I left the band back when. I love what I do, perhaps for some different reasons now than I did, more so than I did. It's a privilege to do what I do for a living.

Yup...like that. :)

Personally those interviews make me a little nauseous. Hit Parader, EVH and Roth should probably just keep their mouth shut.

Yeah, the comments from EVH are....unfortunate. Pleasantly surprised by that little moment from DLR, though.

Yep, Edward comes off sounding like an egomaniac dick again.

When did he BECOME like this?

Would it have FUCKING killed him to give Dave a half ounce of credit for being back? :x

"Sammy and 'The Bass Player' " :?:

So Sammy EVH can mention by name, but Michael is the 'bass player'? And Michael's crime was what? Playing with Sammy? Yet he can mention Sammy by name. Did Michael do something that we are unaware of? Damn dude be happy for a second could ya.

Yeah,Eddie comes through as a conceited mean little man.
What a sad way to promote himself and the band...His shitty attitude makes Sammy and Michael look like class acts, which in fact they are.

Never thought I would be so disgusted about one of the guitarists I loved the most. :(

Dave was really nice and funny as always.

Yeah, Ed's dismissive attitude about MA's contributions and DLR's impact should and probably will come back to bite him in the ass. All he seems to care about is the Van Halens.

I remember a L-O-N-G time back when Sammy first joined up (before 5150 came out). In an interview, someone asked how he was going to replace a singer like DLR. His reply? "Van Halen is me and Alex, everyone else is excess baggage." At that time I could understand his being pissed at DLR, but it seemed like a slap in the face to Michael, who was still in the band. 22 years later and the attitude is unfortunately much the same. Wonder if we'll EVER hear what Alex REALLY thinks?

That's interesting. Maybe Ed was molested by a bass player as a kid or something.

Eddie has ALWAYS been an egomaniac dick. The only difference is, when he was younger he was always smiling when he talked shit on people. Now, he's just a bitter alcoholic who continues to believe that all this time it's been all about him...and noone else.

Just like I posted in the Journey Forums...

I just got done reading Drew's front-page and was especially drawn
to the Hit Parader interview with EVH. Now, I've never considered HP to be that good anyway
(I prefered Circus, RIP and Metal Edge back in the day) and the lead-in to this interview
just validated my opinion...

"EVH is easily one of the top 5 in guitar virtuosos of the 20th century. This only makes the last several years of the band's existence seem tragic. With so much talent kept on hold because no singer could get his act together to work with Eddie, much time has been wasted. Now, Van Halen fans can rejoice the original band (with one minor adjustment) is returning this summer for a North American amphitheatre tour. We spoke to Eddie about what fans can expect."

That one statement right there in bold tells me 2 things:
The reporter is a COMPLETE FUCKING MORON and, secondly,
is nothing but an Ass-Kissing clown.
There aren't many other singers out there that have thier "acts" more together than Hagar.
And of course, the interview was priceless.
It shows what has now become of EVH, the one-time absolute King of the fretboard.
He has now lowered himself to an arrogant, anomosity-filled, jealous drunk that is gonna
really tarnish the image of the band he helped ascend to legendary status.

BTW, I thought Roth sounded like a new man, almost "humbled"...
Who'd have thought that The Ultimate Lead Singer of the early 80's
could actually come back down to earth and still be so likeable? :)
Welcome to Terminus... You hungry?

I know HP is not The Washington Post, but any cred they had before was wiped out with that statement. Ed obviously had final approval on that piece.

Eddie is a jerk. So Anthony and Hagar sell Tequila and Hot Sauce. If their band's going to sit on their ass, they have to make a living, what the heck does Eddie care? God, what a creep.

Ed sounds like a complete ass. I love Van Halen music as much as you all do, but basically he comes across as, "I am the talent, everyone else is my backup band. Oh, and who cares about the fans." Even Al should be taken aback by his attitude, Van Halen with either DLR or Sammy were the epitome of rock in their time, they captured fire in a bottle not once, but twice. Yet, Ed has only arrogance and no gratitude to his fellow musicians or his fans. He also sounds rather envious that both Mikey and Sammy have capitalized on their success and have ventured into mainstream business, while Eddie has to settle for porn muzak gigs.

And how ironic it is that DLR comes off as the humble, gracious one.

OK, hold on, over in Journey we're talking about it and Andrew posted that he now has reason to believe the Ed interview is BOGUS if so, I apologize for ripping.

If so, a big double middle finger to whoever pulled this...painted Eddie in a bad light when he didn't need that to say nothing of the media members who it was fed to.

That site is full of retards. First they don't light the VH torch when the band announced that Dave was back in the band and now they make up fake interviews. I know for a fact that David Lee Roth boycotts that site,I'm going to do the same and everyone else should too. That site has lost a lot of credibility. Rikk is actually a moderator there.

Well said. It's actually a great time to be a Van Halen fan.

Well said NIG.

These guys are my original rock heroes, the guys that got me into music and have been waiting sooooo long for Dave to get back on terms with Ed and make some new sounds. It looked like it was gonna happen a few years ago, and we got screwed over and then there was the hashed up Van Hagar "reunion".

Surely this time...??? :?

So, Ed didn't make those comments. Let's assume for the moment that Ed loves Sam, Mike, Dave, Gary and everyone else in VH history (Mark Stone included  ).

Unfortunately I think he has said some derogatory stuff about Mike and Sam....I heard it with my own ears off the Stern show!!

Childish shit....but I still enjoy Sammy's stuff and Mike can play with whoever he wants to play with. I don't see his 'harmonies' as such an integral part of the VH sound but I certainly respect others right to think so!

What I exactly mean about it being a great time to be a VH fan is that people have been clamoring for a Roth/VH reunion for 20 years.....and now it's happening!!! (I'd take either the Sam or Dave version personally)

I hope they don't fuck it up!!!
