Postby patrick Colin » Sun Feb 18, 2007 6:24 pm

Saw today:

http://www.guitars101.com/vb/bootlegs-o ... ub-il.html

Survivor's 2nd show.

http://www.guitars101.com/vb/bootlegs-o ... songs.html

First song is JJ's version of "ever since the world began" (think that it's the Lock Up Soundtrack)
Second song with JJ's on vocals (2001 version)
Third song is mentionned an acoustic version with Dave Bickler on vocals, but i didn't recognize Dave's voice :( , is there anybody who can confirm it or not? This version include acoustic guitar with violin.

I'm inclined to think it IS Bickler on vox for that acoustic version. There's parts of it where it does sound like him, like the "of the tiger" part after the EEEEYYYYEEEEE--especially the last one, and the end of the song It if is him, his voice has definitely changed a bit. Anyone have some info on when this was recorded?

I'M really not sure.. if you want to compare:

1 - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U4KNACGY
Jamestown Massacre Reunion 2002 - Eye Of The Tiger [Live]

This s a Live Reunion of Jamestown Massacre in 2002 where Dave is singin' EYe Of The Tiger,.. this is the last time Dave performed the complete song of Eye Of The Tiger Live

2 -
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U8IYU8U3
David Bickler - Hold On [Demo]
This s a demo song from Bickler in 2003

After hearing him you noticed that the version "acoustic" is similar but it is not David.

Listen really carefully from the 3:10 mark on. If it wasn't for that section, there would be no chance that it was him---but that sounds like Dave Bickler, which throws the rest into question. At any rate, if he is singing, I would say '92-93, or possibly before. No chance at all that it is a recent recording.

I'm still not convinced 100% either way since 99% of the song doesn't sound like him, but that one line is dead on, and that is where the controversy begins.

On other subjects, was anything other than the following released of those solo demos...Alone, Hold On, Magic, Only You? Those are the only clips I have.

Guys...after listening...i think it's probably dave...it's a little different, but he really does hit those notes....

As one guy said...if it's not...they should find the guy, i like the way he sings it much better than mcauley....

also, on the dave solo stuff i think it was:

Alone, Hold On, Magic, Only You and Lorale....

There are also some rare Survivor stuff, not on Fire Makes Steel, that some call FMS II: Including Overload, Round and Round and I Don't.....

These are rare, but I saw the list of them on Flip's website...although he says that he does not have them either...so who knows...

I guess they are like the Vital Signs Demos with Bickler...that I just can't find anywhere...

Thanks for taking the time to get to the bottom of this very small debate. I thought Bicklers voice was very recongnizable just a different style. Any chance you can find out when it was recorded?
