VAN HALEN 2007 TOUR IS POSTPONED - UPDATED

Postby JRNYLIVE » Wed Feb 21, 2007 2:57 am

Hello Andrew, Rado Stations in the US have started reporting the following. Can you Please use your connections to confirm if this is true or not. This could get ugly with the media and i want to make sure it's the truth and not fiction like last weeks Eddie Interview.

this is what we know so far.

According to Management, the Van Halen Tour with David Lee Roth has been indefinitely postponed. When Van Halen's management announced the tour on February 2nd, there still was no contract signed. Van Halen's management is now Eddie's girlfriend. Apparently Eddie and Alex had been rehearsing with Eddie's son, Wolfgang. The New "Best of" CD highlighting the David Lee Roth years has also been scrapped by Rhino.

Supposedly reported on the following radio stations:

WMMS 100.7 FM in Cleveland morning show
102.5 WDVE in Pittsburgh
97.3 WRVV in Harrisburg, PA
WAAF 107.3

Audio from WAAF

I've been looking on the net and I can't find any mention of it being postponed so if you can find something out Andrew I'm sure we'd all be grateful!

Van Halen postpones their tour?

Well, that certainly would be a shock.

If it's true, which I am still not sure of, "postponed" doesn't mean cancelled.

I'd bet it's just so the people putting out the $ can get Michael Anthony's name on the dotted line. All along I've felt it was posturing by both sides but that he'd be on bass opening night.

Wait and see what happens in/around/after Cleveland.

Perhaps this is just an example of crossed wires. Let me explain.

The Police tour is selling out like hotcakes and aside from one date for the VH tour we've heard nothing in regards to tour dates. Perhaps the VH zoo keepers have decided that it would be best to postpone the tour until after the dust settles from the Police tour. That coupled with the upcoming Black Sabbath (Heaven & Hell) tour, altough not as huge as The Police might put a dent into the pocketbooks of fans that enjoy ALL three bands.

The Rhino Records website has no mention of ANOTHER VH best of cd coming out - yet.

Perhaps its just a case of crossed wires and a radio station wanting to try to grab some attention.
Oww. My aching tentacles.

MR.com's PM update is on the front page now....

I stated before "postponement" is NOT "cancellation" and I think the site/Andrew's update concurs with that.

We may have to wait a month or so, but come Cleveland, we should be a go.

In spite of my misgivings about the MA falling out, I am SO pulling for the Dave reunion to happen.

This also, as stated by someone else, may give the band time to record a kickass new song for release.

PS, one more thing. Without leaping to conclusions I see that "the VanGirlfriend" has now been mentioned very prominently in a lot of what are at this time sketchy reports.
Again without pointing the finger at her, IF SHE IS FUCKING THIS UP FROM THE INSIDE, THEN GODDAMIT, GET HER AWAY FROM THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN ASAFP. :x :!:

Please don't blame the girlfriend for this mess. Eddie has been calling the shots in this band for years. Do you honestly believe all these announcements have been made without Edward's knowledge? Maybe Dave is having second thoughts. Maybe Eddie realizes that Dave is taking center stage. and that people want to see Dave. Maybe someone is figuring these two massive egos won't fit on one stage. I'm not ragging here - I'm finished with that bullshit. I just can't believe someone is pointing the finger at the girlfriend - unless, of course, you are joking. Yes, that must be it!

Eddie Van Halen is retarded. Now he has his son involved in this,he should put his ego aside and just get on stage and play.

I'm leaning towards the fact that they may need Michael Anthony to REALLY make this tour a success

Yeah, EVERYBODY would be on board if that happened. I won't go see them unless he is. Sticking your 16 year old son on bass is just an insult to the fans.

This sounds like a Band/Promoter Issue and probably has nothing to do with internal member issues. If there was band member issues the tour would have been cancelled. Im willing to bet this will all be worked out shortly after or around the RNRHOF Ceremony. Huge Press and a great way to Announce the Tour Dates. Remember it's all business. The Band wants as much money as they can, and the Promoters want to pay less and make more. 40 Dates is not a lot of shows.

now, if i am wrong my other guess would be that Valerie changed her mind about letting Wolfie go on Tour all summer and they dont have a Bass Player now.

all just a guess...but who knows...

Andrew i bet you know the real Scoop...... 8)

Every T should have been crossed and every I should have been dotted before any tour annoucement was made. This is as unprofessional as it can possibly get. It doesn't matter who or what is responsible - it's just another slap in the face to all the fans who have stuck with this band for years. If it is a publicity stunt, it's a bad one and it just might bite them in the ass.

To me, this is VERY easy to see right through. They're doing this for free press/promotion. As for Wolfie, he'll NEVER be the bassist if this tour happens. Again, more free publicity and EVH flexing his muscles. Like 13 said, when the curtain goes down for the opening show, Michael will be the bassist. THAT is a fact.
