It's not that he didn't know something was going on Moon. It's that he chose not to know the extent of it. Let's say you know your sister is doing something that isn't quite legal, but no one is being truly harmed by it. You also know that exposing the problem would cause more problems for your family than it would solve for the time being. Do you choose to stand on ethics, say to hell with everyone else and dig into it and expose the injustice like the flaky heroine in a romance novel? Maybe it would be better to put it in the back of your mind and wait until the time is right for everyone. Just one possible scenario.

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA....wait a minute. You're forgetting one thing. Go back and look at the body language of Neal and Friga. They knew EXACTLY what was going on. There were times they looked embarrassed to be on stage. Almost as if they had to fight to make it through the show. They were robotic, didn't move and hardly ever cracked a smile. If they DIDN'T know, explain why they acted that way? C'mon folks, they knew. Every single one of them.

You would think he would have noticed in soundchecks?????? as well.So lets do this and not tell Neal :? he will never find out

Isn't the consensus here, there, and everywhere that this is all moot? Isn't the consensus that we should (or have already) all "moved on"?

Of course they all knew something was going on. They knew Augeri couldn't sing at the beginning of 2005. They knew he was getting some assistance from Kevin. What I'm suggesting is that they chose not to know the full extent of it. Maybe the discomfort that was so obvious in them came from the fact that they knew there was a problem but they also knew that they were better off not knowing how much of a problem until Augeri was ready to admit it and do the right thing. What they didn't know, they couldn't be held accountable for.

I agree but this is not about tapegate but the idea that Neal would not know if a member of his band was lipping!!!

I was present at 2 soundchecks in 2005 and Augeri wasn't there. Deen did the mic check.

It could be possible that the "prep work" for tapegate was done while Neal was off with Soul Sirkus.

No one is saying that Neal didn't know, just maybe not the extent.

Bullshit, if this happend, then Neal knew every last detail of it. These men spent every day, minute, second, night, weekend, holiday, and brunch's together. They went on tours, and worked together for almost a decade. Of course Neal knew what was going on. It's nonsense to say he didn't, unless it didn't happen.

Give me a break. Do you honestly think these guys
"spent every day, minute, second, night, weekend, holiday, and brunch's together"
Maybe Neal and Deen hung out a bit 'Off-Duty' and I'm sure Jeff and Neal hang together some.
But for the most part, these guys pretty much see eachother at soundchecks and the shows.
This ain't like the fucking Waltons where they all sit down for meals together and make sure
everyone is given a kiss good night.
It's a fucking business. I bet Neal only talked to Auegri at shows.
Apparently he wasn't even around much for soundchecks, Deen was doing the singing.
If you read old interviews from 2004-2005 or had a chance to catch a show and
watch the 'stage interaction' it was obvious that Neal was done with Augeri a long time ago.

But hey, maybe you'll get that great Dallas DVD :)

In 2005 I heard two soundchecks and Augeri wasn't heard, just Deen. I think it was stated that SA didn't go to soundchecks 'cuz he was in the "steam room" to prep his voice?! Another thing that makes ya wonder...or do other lead singers not show up for soundcheck?

And, sure it is all done with & in the past, but this topic will always crop up & more so with the impending interview & mention of "tapegate" by Neal, himself.

Maybe not EXACT to the extent, but....they toured together. When you tour, you go on roadtrip of the sort. I bet they spent a good chunk of time together. Like you said, it is a FUCKING BUSINESS. If it is a business, then you know damn sure Neal knows every part of what happend, because it is HIS band.

Wrong again on several accounts. Dude, you are embarrassing the rest of us in Steeler Nation.
BTW, I'd think twice before you go calling this "Neal's band".
You name one decision this band has made in the past 10 years and
I GUARANTEE that nothing was done unless Friga signed off on it.
Trust me. Friga wields more power in this band than you can imagine.

haha, How can I be embarassing Steeler Nation? We aren't talking football. I'm simply stating my OPINION on my favorite band. Now, if you would wanna talk football where you can have a LEGIT arguement, then lets go. But this is simply based on opinion, and I'm entitled to that. So no, I don't agree with that statement.

Didn't Friga say of Schon. "I was looking at a guy who wants HIS band back?"

No, asswipe, I won't nor have I ever made excuses. I am just saying Pittsburgh isn't that good. 8-8 ? Come on? And don't tell me it's because Bettis and his 3.1 ypg wasn't there was the reason.

Cower is overrated IMO, and Big Ben didn't take the offseason seriously.

Fuck em.
