Sorry to resort to MonkeyBoy reply tactics here (quoting EVERY FUCKING LINE  )
but that statement is absurd. No coach in the league over the past 15 years
has had to deal with an owner like Cowher has. The Rooneys don't spend big money
on players; biggest tight-wads in the league. But even with a rotating roster of
players because of free-agency losses, Cowher was always able to get the best
out of his players. Last year was a hiccup.
Partly Ben's fault cause he was really never at full-strength. Partly Cowher's
fault for not sitting him and going with Batch more.
Add to that an Offensive line that embarrassed themselves and
a secondary that was laughable and you had disaster from the outset.

RockinDeano wrote:Big Ben didn't take the offseason seriously.

He took his off-season seriously.
His dumb-ass didn't take advice from his coach and peers seriously.
Fucker shoulda swallowed his pride and wore a damn helmet as
soon as the coach made it an issue. But I commend him for fighting
so hard to get back to playing strength. Getting a concussion,
a bad case of pneumonia and having an emergency apendectomy all
within a 4-month time span of the accident made things worse.
Cowher shoulda kept him on the bench and he shoulda admitted
that he wasn't in any form of game-shape for a long time and sat himself.

I don't think they are Super Bowl caliber right now but I think
they will bounce back with at least an 11-5 record, playoff birth and
possibly make it to the Championship game.

Dude,

I respect your sports knowledge, so I won't spike you into the ground like a tent stake but whay the fuck?

15 years..Without checking, how many Super Bowls did Bill get them to? They had a shit load of talent and seemingly lost every year be it to NE or J Ville or whomever.

You know Goddamned well 2 years ago was a gift, but hey, who cares?

Add to this he was in a shit division.

Many of those years, Tennessee was there and they were shit..Cincinnati was shit as was of course Cleveland(they're always shit)..and baltimore was shit the majority of the time too. They cruised on a formula of 8 guaranteed wins per year and picked up a few here and there out of conference games....then stubbed their collective toes come playoff time. I remember Pittsburgh being 14 point favourites and Bledsoe beat them 27-3 or some shit....the Jacksonville got em.

I admire their fans...some of the best in the NFL along with Denver and KC and of course Green Bay's......sorry Raven fan, eat me, you aren't in the same league as GB, KC or DEN...

Why don't you guys follow Pitt? They have a decent program? Panthers....

Cowher did have a few years of MAJOR under-achievment from his teams. But how can you lay blame solely on him?
He didn't throw those 2 fucking interceptions in the Dallas SB but he had that team playing well enough to get there.
Cowher's one HUGE GLARING MISTAKE in his tenure that almost got him fired a few years back was his assinine faith in Kordell Stewart as a starter. He stood behind that ass-clown for too long. Then, because ownership wouldn't spend money, we went thru some has beens like-Maddox... But Cowher and his staff had him playing pretty well.

Look, I don't look at NFL coaching greatness just from the aspect of SB wins. I like to look at the bigger picture.
Cowher's career record, including post-season games is 161-99-1. That's not too fucking bad.
Look at the list of coaches that have come up thru the ranks working for Cowher: Marvin Lewis, Ken Whisenhut, Chan Gailey, Mike Mularkey, Russ Grimm, Jim Haslett, Dom Capers...

I think looking at Cowher's overall body of work justifies calling him a "Great HOF-caliber Coach".

Hell, one of the coaches I respect the most in the league is Jeff Fischer.
The guy just knows how to communicate, coach and get the most out of his players...
Personally, I wished like HELL that he would've turned down the extension the
Titan's gave him so that the Steelers could've had a shot at getting him.

Do you think Ken Anderson might bring in a new aspect? It seems the Steelers have had several QB's that start strong and then fizzle. Hell I remember Steelers fans praising Maddox, and he did well for a while. But they just can't keep up the momentum.

Maddox didn't fizzle because of Maddox.
Maddox fizzled because the Steelers got away
from thier bread and butter: Running the ball down people's throats.

I don't know much about Anderson's coaching abilities but, being that he was a pretty
good QB in his day, I think he will be able to help Ben alot.
But the only thing that is gonna help Ben is Ben.
He needs to get the confidence and swagger back that he had in his
first 2 seasons. That's gonna be the hard part.
Physical ailments are one thing but ailments of the mind are
a whole other ball of wax.
I truly believe he's gonna bounce back this coming year.

I am glad you are not denying that we made that bet. I will put that $50 toward your ticket. :P

If you wear Bengals gear, you will not make it out of the stadium still wearing it. Not saying that's right, just the way it is.

Cower is overrated IMO, and Big Ben didn't take the offseason seriously.

Fuck em.

Whoa, Deano, Deanooo. Come on.. You can do better than that.

The way the season ended... 8-8 is a helluva finish. We started the season 2-6...games in which ended in the turnover battle with the margin of 7 points or less. In every game that we lost, and no matter how B-A-D we actualy played, and god damnit we had bad ones, we were still in all of the games til the final seconds. (Excluding Baltimore.) At the end of last season, we won the Last 5 out of 7 games and were becomming hot, and were still in the playoff race. If the Stillers win 9 games last year, they are the 6th seed in the AFC playoffs. Big Ben overrated? Please.. Going into last year his record was on the likes of 32-6 as a starter. Even going back to his college days in Miami of Ohio he only lost one game. Overated is a term you can only use when a hater is refered to Big Ben. No matter HOW you look at it, the kids a winner, regardless. From what Ben went through in the offseason is incredible. No matter how bad his play was and the bad luck he had throughout the season, I was just glad to see him alive, and playing the game.

Cowher, no doubt, packed it in this season. He showed no developments, or no adjustments in his team from the Superbowl season. They seemed to be running the same packages, and same gameplan as the 2005 SB team, and in the NFL, it's all about adjustments and comming up with an all new display the next year. Cowhers W-L record in the NFL is incredible. Unfortunatly, he never really had that dominant, and franchise player at QB to ever get him over that AFC championship hump. Too bad he left this season, he finally has a young team to build around to contend for years upon years at a high level. Mike Tomlin is a great fit, and hopefully light the fire under their asses, and play like Pittsburgh Steelers football, the way it's supposed to be played. Hard nosed, and in your face, stuffing it down your throat, no mercy football.

It's simple. It's business. Cowher coached with fuckin special teams for the Clowns before jumping ship to Pittsburgh. That has nothing to do with anything. The point is, Bens mechanics were so piss poor this season, my little nephew would set his feet better. Hopefully working with the likes of Gay ass Palmer, Ken can work with Ben throughout the offseason, and give him the mechanics he so desperatly needs....esp on the long ball.

....Where's AR in all of this? haha
