That's a ridiculous analogy..
How would you explain Audioslave or Velvet Revolver's success then? And how about Bad English? These bands may have been formed with famous musicians from previous bands....BUT...all have created their OWN musical identity. You may hear some similarities in the rhythm section...but Alter Bridge is definitely NOT Creed and Audioslave is NOT Rage Against The Machine, not by a long shot!

Gn'R and Rage Against The Machine were actually good.
Really, besides nu-metal, was there anything more grating in the late 90's than "With Arms Wide Open" and "Higher" played over and over and over again wherever you went? Sorry, it was just watered down Pearl Jam, no matter how you look at it.

IMO Creed became a band that churned out hits and the 3rd CD was ok one of the better songs Weathered never even was released as asingle I believe. I read somewhere that Tremontii and Phillips said they were in this band too make the music they wanted too and couldn't before ( read Stapp). they had made enough $$ to hold them over. I am looking forward to the next CD
