Eddie dissed Michael Anthony pretty bad in this audio interview, saying that he never supplied any rhythm to the band. Ed went on to say now that they they have Wolfie on bass, they finally have a rhythm section. WTF??? That would be like Alex Lifeson saying that Geddy Lee never supplied rhythm for Rush. That's insane. You cannot go much lower than to say the guy never did his job in the band. I doubt that Michael Anthony will ever be able to look at Eddie with any respect after this.

Michael Anthony may have been honest on several occasions about Eddie's drinking problem, but he would never take away from the legacy of Eddie's musical contribution to the band Van Halen and to the world of music. I don't know anyone who could honestly say that Michael Anthony didn't provide a solid rhythm section for Van Halen, not to mention his unique background vocal capabilities. He's every bit as good of a bass player as Alex Van Halen is a drummer.

As the Van Halen World Turns. (Or should I say "stops" turning again?)

Gee...I dunno....he could've said something about his mum or something....

Whilst I don't agree with this assessment I am also pretty much over MA being 'dismissed' as part of the bands history. Like I have said, I can take or leave the 'background vocals' but he was there pretty much from the start and if Edward hasn't got anything nice to say about Anthony, he shouldn't say anything.

I thought that was a very weird comment when Eddie said that on the interview. He sounds very self-deluded.

Pretty sure he meant at the same age.....and he meant he used to 'have' to be a rhythym guitarist because Mike was so inadequate.

He is just trying to build VH4 up, but I think he has miscalculated the fans feelings about MA.....having said that, over on the links there is a fair bit of support for Wolfie too. No-ones mentioned Alex's influence here either....he has a bit more power than a lot of people think.

Apparently the Val grounded Wolfie theory is nonsense too.

No way. Did you listen to it? He said Lukather and the Porcaros come over his house and watch Wolfie kick his ass when they play together. And Eddie said real musicians know that he (Eddie) is really a rhythm guitarist.

No kidding! It all depends on what Ed needs to tell the voices in his head I guess. Ed used to say that the music was all his doing. That's what he told Mitch Malloy. MA was brought in at the last minute to track. They all have stated that at some point through the years. Now, if the music is written by the guitarist and the drummer, and the bass player is a hired gun, then who is driving the bus? If MA sucked so bad, and the all-mighty Van Halens can have their pick of anyone, then why did MA stay in VH as long as he did?

Put Sheehan up on stage with Ed and watch Ed crumble.

Hearing that interview with evh just shows everybody what he's all about. The guy is nothing but a drunk.
He cant be serious can he?The guy told us in 99 that they had so much music ready to go.Its 2007 and all we've had is a screwed up tour and a greatest hits cd.While hagar and roth have been playing there asses off.
I wouldn't bother with van halen, they might have been one of the worlds great bands, but these days theyre a JOKE

Eddie is a liar. He always tries to sound so innocent when talking about former band members and why they "left" the band.
