THAT would be my first choice, but I doubt that will ever happen. Perfect song for JSS, tho. I'll bet he digs that song.

Let's ask him. :D Do you like that song Jeff? Would you do it? It would be great. Especially relevant in the UK right now too.

He'll answer if we word it differently:

Jeff, your voice would SUCK on Out of Harm's Way. Same for FITH. I have some boots of your first two shows, and it's apparent that you just aren't right for Journey.

That oughta do it.

Oh, OK, Gotcha. (It's sort of the reverse psychology thing, huh? :P )

Haha, fuck you NIGGY!!! Kidding....

...actually Neal gave me the music to OOHW to work on for a Soul SirkUS tune, I have to be blunt, it never did anything for me. I tried to make something of it & nothing stuck to the ceiling. I was surprised at at how god it turned out when Journey tweaked at it but in all honesty, it still doesn't do much for me, sorry. Who knows though, re-addressing it live & me putting my spin on it could be interesting, who knows....I wish we would do Good Morning Girl sometime, that song does it for me big time, so much passion & emotion in the melody & chord changes.

Chills down the spine.

It would be such an emotional moment in a Journey show,I bet the crowd would love it! :)

Yeah, radical stuff like that would be so cool for us diehards. Add Little Girl to the setlist while you're at it. :)

There are a few of those I'd like to hear Jeff sing too, at least throw one in here and there until they get some new stuff to introduce. I'll bet he can really rock on OOHW.

LOL Sher, it's funny, when I was listening to the radio at work the other day, Lenny Kravitz's American Woman came on and I remember thinking.....damn, Jeff could definately pull this one off better, and I even like Lenny's version.

I find myself doing that with a lot of songs lately. Do you think that qualifies as a symtom of SotoLocoitis?

Yes it does, however the correct term is Sotopathic.
One of the main symptoms are when you wake up in the middle of the night with " I'll be waiting" in your head.
Another symptom is when youre drivin down the road and the only thing you can hear in your head is "Outta My Way"
In most cases its very hard to cure a Sotopath, specially if the patient has been exposed to any kind of live performances, whether its at your local venue , your flatscreen plasma or even your ipod/zune.
As bad as it sounds, the good part about being a Sotopath is that it will definately help you reach total Talismanization.

Sorry you didn't like OOHW. I think it's the best thing on Gens, but not everyone likes it.

Thanks for the diagnosis Behshad. I don't think I've quite reached the chronic or psychotic stage yet. So far it seems to only be an acute case, brought on by exposure to certain forms of stimuli, but I'll take the necessary precautions to keep it from getting out of hand.

I agree. Questions like - how did you get into music - who are your inspiriations.. you (I assume) have been asked 100 times over. I think a lot of people are always interested in the more obscure and different things.

But you may now get "what size shirts do you wear?" or "Peter pan or skippy?"

Sounds great that you wanna do Good morning girl with your spin on it. As Shania said the crowd would just love it.
Now, what are the chances of you guys doing ANY Yngwie or Talisman songs, with a Journey-twist on them!?

[quote="JSS"]We're giving it a go on this Euro tour, actually today is the 1st day of trying them out a half step down...u heard it here 1st before the muzoids of the board come on & make attention to it. It is a tough schedule out of the shoot here, 11 shows in the 1st 15 days, so we're giving it a go to see if we're comfortable with it...I like the songs in the original keys personally but I am accustomed to my solo albums & Talisman tuned down so it will be interesting, honestly, the songs are still high ,we'll see how much easier/difficult they are comparitively speaking."

Jeff, I honestly don't know much about the technicalities of music & singing, but since you are in that position, I'm curious...Is Journey music the most challenging out there to sing? Or what other bands music is challenging, past & present? I would think Queen, but does Journey top that?
thanks...

Not tryin to answer this for Jeff, but if you take a look at the 100+ songs he sang with Talisman, the 20+ songs he sang(live) with Yngwie,,, and other projects involved (Eyes, Takara, Kuni, Masi, Boogie Knights), its clear to see that Journey is just one of many challenges Jeff has had to face and conquer!
Now the real question is, would he have been able to handle the "Journey Challenge" as easily as he did, had he not sang for Yngwie/Talisman/Takara ? I personally think he wouldve had alot of trouble if he wouldve just sang with ONE band the past 20 years and then come to Journey. The fact that he was involved in so many different projects (including Queen tribute) has really set it up for him to front Journey with such success .

I'd be curious to know too, Queen or Journey? Listening to the Queen cd right now (like the powerful vocals on the Queen stuff and his solo band just kicks ass.) JMO, I would think, some of the early Journey (really high/calling small animals to the stage door (SP) type songs) would be harder than the Queen songs. :?

KEEP ON RUNNING Download- JSS

Postby brywool » Thu Mar 01, 2007 4:03 am

WHOA-
VERY NICELY DONE. I stand corrected. Everything I'd heard up to this point of "Keep On Running" did not cut it (I heard 6 different live versions). This is a GREAT performance of this song. Shit, how come I keep hearing the lame stuff?? You mentioned Perry never did the song justice live, actually, there are some Japan boots where he more than nails it, but yeah, he did skirt some of the high notes at times and more often then not on this particular track.

This was an awesome clip Jeff. Thanks for setting me straight. As I said, I stand corrected.

What are you doing on the road to keep your voice in shape? When you first started, you were pretty rough, but as time went on, your voice improved dramatically. Usually, the road will take more of a toll on the voice then get better. Did you work with coaches after joining Journey or did you just lay off or what?
